I never thought of this forum as anything more then the classified help wanted section of a newspaper. I wonder if these folks write a letter to the editor of their local paper offering their opinion on the jobs posted.

Unfortunately our society has become meaner and nastier. Perhaps it's the anonymity that the poster hides behind.

If this part of the RV forums is forced to close because of a few it will be a great loss to many.

Years ago, this type of behaviour was extremely rare. I don't know what has changed. I hate having to be so harsh, but it seems to be the only way. I tried being nice....they ate me alive, as well.

I guess the way of this forum is going to be harsh, unfortunately.

I can tell you one thing, tho.......if this continues, this particular forum will be a thing of the past....there will be no Work Camping forum.
Unfortunately, doing away with this forum might just be what some of those trolls are hoping for. It would be a shame, because I know it is beneficial to workers and should be beneficial to employers, but I would never post a position because of all the negative feedback it would surely bring. It would be nice if the "closed" notation could instead say "closed to posting, position available". That way the casual viewer of this forum wouldn't assume the "closed" notation meant the position was no longer available.

Thanks for what you do - It's a shame you have to do it though.
Two things on the forums I wish weren't here:
Those who overvalue their opinion because they don't have the experience
Those that all they post is "Just Google it" or "That's been talked about before" - Especially to those new to the forum. We were all "New Once" and some stuff, though it's been talked about before - may need to be revisited.

Thanks again for being "Fair but Firm"

The mods were pretty specific awhile back. For work camping, they allow the location and name of the campground, how many hours and a contact number..that's it...

While your post is "closed" it's still there for anyone to read. If it violated forum rules, they remove it completely.....Dennis

You have supplied the information about the post. Just because the post is now "closed", anyone can click on the links to the left of your original post and send you a private message. You can then have a dialogue (privately) about the position with a potential worker this way without getting all kinds of negativity on the forum thread.

Moderators usually close Workcamping threads pretty fast, but that should not prevent ANYONE with a User ID on RV.net from contacting you.

Here's a link to another post where someone asked the same question not 'that' long ago: Click here.

The reason posts are closed here is because there are too many people who overvalue their 2 cents. Someone makes a post offering a site for Y hours, guaranteed someone will pipe in right away with their calculator in hand saying that, since their site costs X amount on their website and they want Y hours, they're only "paying" the person Z dollars/hour instead of just minding their own business and letting someone else decide whether they want to take the offer or not.

It discourages people from offering up jobs here, which undermines the purpose of this forum.
