Red Squirrel or Chip Monk

How to rid RV of rodents the small type. Caught a red squirrel last fall gave him a toss out the door to a tree, made very effort to break his neck as he hit the tree. Now it seems a relative has taken up residence. How do you get rid of them. I tried traps the little bugger eats the treat and escapes.

Plugging the holes is the long term solution - traps, pellet guns, etc. are just a short term fix. Rodents breed fast and new ones will show up in an empty territory.

In the interim, Decon works on chipmunks and squirrels the same way it works on rats and mice.

Fobert caps have BB , they are shorter than CB caps and can be harder to find, most sporting goods shops have CB loads in both short and long

A .22 with a BB load would work better. A CB load just allows you to tune your CB without transmitting. Don't think the squirrels care about your CB, allthough I have known a lot of squirrely CB operators.

On a lighter note, go to youtube and search on 'squirrel catapult'. Hilarious

I put moth balls on top of the tires and toss a few under the rig. Smells like Aunt Bessy's closet, but it works.

I agree with Midnight Sadie, been there done that; there is a better way. The critter is just trying to live.

I have taken over 200 of the little buggers in the last 3 years, most recently one yesterday and one today. I tried the live trip/relocate for over a year before I gave up on it. Never got them out of the attic.

They WERE in my attic. My attic has now been vermin free for 2.5 years.

My favorite was the Dumplings.

Squirrel jerky can be mighty fine if smoked properly. For the other menu items, we had to lie and tell our daughter it was rabbit.

EDIT The trouble with red squirrels and chipmunks is that it takes too many to make a decent meal. Jerky on the otherhand is usually eaten in small bites.

I have two squirrel dogs, they would love a chance to run the tree rat up a tree then he would be supper after a quick shot.

You might consider a pellet gun, especially if you live in the city or have nosey neighbors. I have a pump up one that is deadly on them or any other smaller pests.
