My thoughts go out to the families and friends of fallen and serverly wounded soldiers. They have to live with their loss and changed lives everyday.

A huge thanks to all Vets out there that took the same oath that we all did...that we would give our life protecting our country and it's people. USAF, Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Reserve and the Guard...To those who honorably served and are serving our great United States in the military, I salute you as a "brother in arms"....

I too had 2 uncles who flew WWII RCAF as navs in bombers, they were both shot out of the sky over occupied France in different incidents. One gave some (escaped thru Spain) but unfortunately the other gave all (Heverlee War Cemetary, Belguim).

Lot of discussion here in Canada about making Nov 11th a National Holiday.
The company pres at a former workplace was a WWII vet who was shot up pretty bad "at the end of his war" told his staff that they could not have a Nov 11th holiday because he wanted to make sure every one observed the minute of silence. So, over the PA, at the 11/11 11:00 he made sure of that.

My father served in the RCAF in WW2 and flew as navigator on the bomber planes. He could have been shot out of the sky but was one of the lucky ones who didn't.

Our Veterans are the reason we all can live in a free country and I am very proud of people like my dad. Like you say, some gave all.

Sad that to some it means nothing more than an excuse to have a sale. I intentionally avoid Memorial Day and Vetrans Day sales.
