RV delivery via transport driver

I was considering buying a travel trailer and having it delivered from the dealer to wherever I want it, via a RV delivery firm that has a relationship with the dealer.

Has anyone done this?

Please.....I don't care to hear about the value of taking local delivery, PDI's or lack of them.
I am fully aware of all this....thank you.

Just your personal experiences if you had taken delivery in this manner.

I do some boats for a local dealer. I have all the paper work and get it all signed by the buyer. Have even started getting repeat customers

No different than getting a package by UPS. Just make sure everything is the way its supposed to be before you sign on the line. Oh, and make sure the transporter is insured. You can ask for a copy of the policy certificate.

Did this once with a Class A Motorhome. It was great!! I did have to take the driver to the airport which was only 15 minutes from our home.

My work takes delivery of vehicles like this all the time. It usually works out fine. Do check all the paperwork against the trailer itself and do a full walk-around/inspection before signing off on the transporter's paperwork. We have had several occasions when the transporter delivered the wrong vehicle (once was the dealer's fault - the other times, the transporter didn't verify what he was handing over to whom and they didn't check either) or we found a dent/ding on the new vehicle.

Sorry I might not have been as clear as I could have.

This would be to buy a RV from a dealer and instead of taking delivery in person, a transporter would deliver it to me at a predesignated location of my choice.....
Then I would hook it up and go my merry way.

I am thinking of buying a travel trailer from a dealer in the East.
So instead of me driving 4000 miles round trip from Nevada, the transporter takes it to me.

I am weighing the good vs. bad right now....including costs.

This sounded really strange to us at first. Matter of fact we thought it was a far fetched tail. But when we bought our current trailer the dealer had all the history on it. Turns out previous owners were one of their best customers. They never towed (now ours) trailer and they bought a new trailer every other year. They had the dealer tow it to where ever they wanted (campground, etc) usually within 100 miles from house. Then they would call dealer to tow it back to their house when thru camping. I understand years prior with their first trailer, that they were involved in a bad accident and never wanted to tow anything again. Wife asked the dealer why didn't they get a motor home? Dealer said they did at one time, but after awhile the motorhome was just another set of cylinders to take care of, and they were afraid to drive it also.

Wife and I think the dealer made a ton of them. But when you think about depreciation and upkeep on pick up, might not be that bad of idea.

We live in Reno NV and bought a new Winnebago from a dealer in L.A. We were planning on flying down to pick it up when the dealer suggested one of his drivers bring it up for only $250 (which included the gas!). We agreed and when the delivery driver arrived, he saw our old MH, called his boss and they offered what we were planning on putting it on Craigslist for. A real win-win for us!

up front I have never taken delivery of trailer in this manner........ however probably 90 plus percent of trailers are delivered in this manner from the manufacturing location to the dealer lot. If the dealer is providing the insurance for the transporter so you are harmless should an accident occur.. don't see a problem. Just get it in writing. I would recommend the dealer take a walk around the trailer and video the condition of the trailer and send you the video so you can compare it with the trailer when it arrives you should be good to go. This would be a way to keep the transporter honest.. before and after pic's ๐Ÿ™‚

Good idea if you don't intend to move it again and can have mobile RV service if you have any issues.
Have Fiver will travel with little or no notice at all. I do need to stop at rest areas now and then:)
