When we do not pump a barrel of oil from America, we must go out and buy that barrel of oil from another country (many of which hate us). The shortage of oil decreases the supply and increases the price. It is a world market. Total volume affect price, not country of origin. This is easily understood and most Americans understand this. We must make the politicians realize that these anti fossil fuel policies hurt America and hurt RV ers most due to our high fuel vehicles. The oil is pumped and sold via American oil companies. It is the greed of the oil companies not the lack of driling for oil in USA that is the cause of absurd prices. In the 60's gas was $.20 per gallon and the oil companies complained. They companies the oil inserted friendly politicians to office and had regulation of oil prices removed. The result is what we now pay, for a commodity traded and boosted in price by speculation not supply and demand.

If we the people demanded and permitted all the oil drilling wherever and whenever the oil companies wanted, the oil companies would find another boogeyman to blame for the gouging by the oil compiaies of the American public indures.

Make no mistake the oil comapnies have shut down oil refineries and have built no new refineries in many many years. What is it they do with obscene profits? Do they sit around the oil club drinking Sherry, and smoking cigars, and laughing at how we will pay anything they charge for gas and diesel rather than throwing the oil, bought and paid for politicians out of office, and putting those into office that will regulate and make oil companies accountable to we the people.

Oil is a natural resource we the people own and permit oil companies to suck from our land. Why not force oil companies to reduce executive compensation and reduce profits as was the nor until deregulation?

Now that the price of a barrel of oil has risen, the price of gas has leaped up from $2.42 to $2.55. Must be getting ready for the winter driving season. :B

Paid $2.31 a gallon for regular at Sam's Club. Other gas stations are selling for $2.42 a gallon around town. Plus it is about 10 cents a gallon cheaper in nearby MN cities.

Oil is a FUNGIBLE commodity, in fact.

The marginal utility of pumping a barrel of oil from OCS or ANWR is that we get 1/3 barrel. We have to export 2/3 of a barrel to get 1/3 of a barrel. Does that seem like a good deal for the USA to you?

If only 1/3 of the pumped oil applies leverage to the US oil market to lower prices is that a good deal?

Only the oil company gets richer, and they are 60% owned by foreigners.

I see you continue with your warped misstatements. Oil is a commodity. Doesnโ€™t matter where it is shipped. What matters is the total consumed vs. the total produced world wide. These basic laws of supply and demand have been in play for centuries and any hatred of big business does not change them. Most thinking people can understand that if more oil is pumped, then the price comes down. When we leave our own natural resources untouched for political reasons, then America ends up pay more for it from foreign nations and we lose jobs. Pretty simple really. The simple reason we are not drilling now is that the environmentalist movement presently has control of our government. Governments come and go.

I guess that "Drill, baby drill" is off the table now.

Or was that just an opportunistic attempt to get the USA to sell off oil leases cheap to foreign owned (60%) oil companies?

You know, foreign oil companies (with American names) that employ coolie labor from 3rd world countries and sell 2/3 of the pumped oil to foreign countries.

So, can we lay that to rest?

As of today, it's $2.17 to $2.29 here in Owensboro (cheaper on the east side of town, as usual). Diesel's running about 3-5 cents either side of $2.50, depending on the station.

A few days ago, I filled up West of St. Louis at $2.11/gallon. This went on top of my $2.56 WI fuel.
