Sounds like you may have run into what we've found in Nebraska and Iowa. It was hard to figure out what to get by the names they gave the different fuels.

3.16 best price for 87 octane here in MI. 4.05 - 4.20 for diesel sounds like a buck a gallon difference to me. What in the world is going on??

There's all this talk about prices dropping, here and by the talking heads. But Colorado has mostly been on the low end, partly because "regular" here is only 85 octane. But in the past month, gas has barely moved, if at all, and diesel has shot up to between 3.98 and 4.20.

"and the beat goes on..."

HOUSTON โ€“ Chevron Corp. now says it caused an oil spill off the coast of Brazil, which is likely to pose problems for the oil producer in a region crucial to its growth.

Oil has been seeping from the ocean floor since Nov. 8, near where Chevron was drilling an exploratory well. But until now, the company has been slow to acknowledge that the spill was directly related to the drilling, saying instead that the well was "suspected to be contributing" to seepage.

On Saturday evening, however, Chevron spokesman Kurt Glaubitz said, "The drilling was responsible for the seepage."

Why do the words, drill baby drill" seem a little like an over kill in an industry that can not be trusted? This spill is happening off Brazil where our new regulations don't apply, Hmmmmmmmm

It must be time to go, the suns out and I've got a full tank of diesel!

For what this is worth, gas around Baton Rouge and New Orleans seems to run around $3.19/gal. However, I did see two places this week in New Orleans that had regular for $2.96/gal.

I don't know what diesel prices were as I do know use diesel.

In fact Williams County (Williston area) approved recently rezoning an area so a refinery can be built. You are right SRT, the EPA/enviros will quickly try to stop that. :M

That's an interesting story. Didn't realize they are using #2 diesel for fracking. That's a few gallons....:E

There's lot's of open space around Williston for a refinery. But I suppose the rabid environmentalists would kill any chance for one.

We certainly need another refinery or two in ND. As of yesterday, diesel is now 75 cents a gallon higher than unleaded gas. So ironic, $40 million dollars a day in oil is being pumped out of the Bakken but yet we can't get any extra diesel fuel to help with the process. North Dakota State oil outlook.

The real reason why diesel has gone up so much is because my DW and I had bought a F250 diesel a few years back . This is the final answer .

It seems to me that in the past when Diesel prices started to soar like this, There would be an outburst from the trucking industry and the threat of shut downs etc.. Fast forward to present and I think as prices rise there is no more checks and balances most have just decided to pass it on to the consumer. there was an .80 cent per gallon gap between gas and Diesel just this week. I guess we are glad that gas has come down some Diesel seems to be a different storey.

We haven't been able to get a new refinery permitted in over 20 years. They are going to reverse the direction from North to South on a pipeline from Cushing, OK to Texas. That will help about 400,000 bbls a day. Looks like the XL pipeline is shot and the Canadians will be selling their oil to China,
