Hmmm, some fuel prices are re-adjusting. Those gasoline prices that were at $3.69-$3.71 are now at $3.67. The lower priced stations are slowly moving toward the current high price. But I'm thankful we never got a diesel as those prices vary from $3.99 to $4.28. Thanks, Gas Buddy.....:)

Oil consumption in the US has dropped by 3 million bbls/day since 2008. This necessitated refinery closures. Simply put refiners are just barely hanging on (Sunoco is going out of the refining business altogether) having closed many refineries due to lowered demand. The bare minimum margin is about $5 / bbl to pay for maintenance and employees. Margins at times went negative. They had to sell overseas to keep facilities open.

The high cost of gas & diesel is caused by the price of crude which 90% comes from nationalized sources. If anyone wants to cast blame look at the speculators that prior to the demise of the banking regulations of Glass - Stegall did not exist. Banks were not allowed to treading in this area. Banks have become gambling casinos using investors and taxpayer money. Much of this is "pump and dump".

It's a very crooked game.

Fry's grocery offers $0.10 discount per gallon if you buy $100.00 groceries. $0.20 if you buy $200.00, etc. Figured on a monthly basis.

My AAA credit card gives 5% discount on gas or diesel if you buy $300.00 of other stuff per month and use your credit card for the fuel at the pumps.

Local newspaper recently reported that U.S. oil refiners in 2011 exported 19 MILLION gallons of petroleum products PER DAY....to Asia, Europe, South America.

According to Mr O'Reilly speculators pay no $$$ up front for futures. Mr. Obama wants to raise their cost to 12.5% (I think 50% would be more like it). They only pay out if "buying" price is lower than selling price when they do sell. I don't have enough $$$ to know any thing about that :?

I've heard that retailer's profit per gallon is only a few cents.

Remember when $0.20 a gallon would pay for 3 or 4 guys to come out and pump your gas, check your oil, check you air pressure, wash your windows, and be happy to provide those services?? I do!

X2 then some. What other thing beside buying from China and Walmart (costing jobs here and income) affects your life and leisure as much??

Right, except if we aren't going to pay for the wars, prescription plan and the cost of the depression then you either print more or raise taxes to get rid of the debt but congress is afraid to do the right thing hence the fuel problems and several others

There are a lot of factors to the cost besides just "big oil". We have all the lovely federal interference, oil is sold worldwide on open exchange not just in US, oil price is set in US dollars and we have devalued our dollar greatly, speculators BS, etc...

When you massively increase the supply of US Dollars and feed them to banks coupled with world oil bought in US Dollars the price of oil will rise. Speculators have more funds to work with; your tax dollars at work.

A more or less finite resource is being chased by infinite supply dollars. Too many dollars chasing too few goods; inflation defined.

Oh, the US is using 3 million BBLS/Day less oil today than in 2007.

Ok, the price here in SW Florida is $3.83.

Bachman Turner Overdrive summed it up with, "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet".

Thank Big Oil, for the huge middle finger. And you can forget the niceties of "we're lending a helping hand and dropping the price .02 last week." I see you got it all back and then some this week. Crude oil speculators beware, there is a huge target on your back.

Gas prices up here continue to move up. $3.59 to $3.71 this morning. If this keeps up it will damage the summer tourist season. The lack of snow this past winter damaged those that depend of the snowmobilers.

Whoops, the price went up to $3.69 at one BP station. Looks like a restrictive travel season for us. At least Sam's Club usually runs 5-10ยข a gallon cheaper and I can get the motor home (with toad) into the pump area.

Can someone give me an idea of current prices for diesel along I-25 in NM and the 40 in NM and AZ? Heading that way in a couple of days. Current price near me are now up to 3.70 to 3.80 less 3 cents at most
places.

Last week's news talked about an Orlando station closest to the airport, well known for gouging folks who were filling up their rentals before retuning. That might be the one you're seeing.
