RV Washing Machines?

We keep telling ourselves we're "just looking" >>sigh<< BUT the ones we're "just looking" at have either the stack W/D or the W/D combo. My question is what does one wash in them? The ones I've seen look like they'd maybe be able to wash a couple of pair of socks at most!

Are they really worth the price, loss of space, water usage and humidity in the coach?

I used a Splendide combo for many years. Only problem was that it doesn't dry jeans or cotton pants very well but I hate laundramats. My next 5er will have stackable units.
Like others have said its personal preference.

First off, if you have a washer/dryer unit, either a stackable or combo in a small coach, it's probably taking up valuable room. Our first coach that had the space was a 2005 36' Monaco Diplomat. It had a space for combo unit. I put just about every gadget into that coach, but never had any interest in the combo units. When the coach was new, combo units were relatively new and didn't work all that well. They're much better now.

We have a new 2014 coach that came with the stackable Whirlpools. If I had ordered the coach new, I would have ordered them. My wife has always said she doesn't need a washer/dryer in the coach. I always wanted one. During our initial shakedown trip we were trying everything in the coach. On the last night, my wife threw all of our dirty clothes in the machine and was ecstatic as to how nice it was to have all the clothing done before we got home. I was always sold and now she is too.

Having the washer/dryer is kind of like having kids and grandkids, until you actually have them, you don't realize how wonderful they are. Speaking of kids, we camp with our two daughters, who own their own TT's, and their children (grandkids). On more than a few occasions it would have been handy to have the washer/dryer when one of the kids got sick and soiled their bedding.

Our coach also came with a drawer dishwasher. We had only used a few dishes on the first trip and we just loaded them in the drawer as we used them. On the last evening we rand the dishwasher....it was great and quiet. The next morning we put the dishes away and drove home.

We have 3 neighbors here that have them. Two go to the laundry mat.

Bought and had the combo installed last year before our 8 month trip. DW loved it after figuring out how to use it efficiently. It was the job she hated the most. The weekly trip to the laundromat, using the camp ground machines, or having the laundry done at a local cleaners all had serious drawbacks in her view. Dirty machines, machines that ate quarters, having to find a supply of quarters, waiting in line for washers or dryers, expense etc. We often only stay in a place 2 or 3 days, so we like to use all our time for sight seeing and exploring, not sitting in some dingy laundromat in a questionable part of town. I chalk this one up as money well spent. A happy DW makes for happy camping!
Both retired. Travel with Nicky the Schnoodle. Son graduated and is teaching high school math. We still love our 2006 34' Allegro Bay XB and have 50,000+ miles on her.

For a dryer you purchase a couple of those pump up suction cup things. Stick them to the side of you RV, put a stick on them and run a clothes line in-between.

The next Evolution.

It seems that the majority of those with W/Ds love them.

In the coaches we're "just looking" at, two have the Splendide 2100XC and the other has a Whirlpool stack. If we got past the "just looking" stage, I thought I'd just have the W/D taken out but I think I've changed my mind now.

I was kidding. Usually, I'm wearing shorts. Jeans don't get much of a workout.

Not always but, I was boing polite because I know some people are into changing clothes every day. (And, for some women once a day isn't enough.) Still, I usually can only make it about 3-5 days when I'm out camping because I camp at more primitive campgrounds and then go fishing and stuff. After wiping worm guts on my jeans for a couple of days I change them before heading to the store or out in public.

I saw the title and said,"That is what I need!" Just drive the coach in and push the button....
Come back to a clean coach....
Can I get one that does the interior carpet at the same time? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Personally, I like wearing clean clothes. ๐Ÿ˜‰

We currently have a stacker unit in the bus and had a Splendide combo unit in our old DP. I like being able to do all our laundry including bedding when we pull into an RV park. I could do all the things I do with the stacker in my combo, it just took a lot longer. Hate crowded laundromats with their dirty, clothes eating machines!

When we went to AK last summer, we took the class C in my sig. I found out laundromats had not changed in the last 20 years, it was the only thing I hated about the trip.

I know some people prefer to carry more "stuff" but that's not for me. I carry minimal groceries and buy fresh every few days. For clothes, I carry about a week's worth, do laundry regularly and replace items as needed. Went into RVing to get away from it all, not haul it along behind. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Wow, if you only wash clothes every two weeks, you must be carrying lots of clothes with you. We just do not own that much clothing and we are fulltimers. We have the stackable units. We do our laundry when we want to, not waiting for machines to become available and not knowing what was washed or dried in them. Have seen some yucky things including dryers where someone urinated in them. We have run the washer without sewer hook ups, run the washer using the water pump, and even run the washer on the generator when exercising it monthly. Worked well every time. We can wash everything including our throw rugs with the exception of our quilt. The dryer is only 110 so it is not as efficient as a residential one.

I'm a bachelor. Two weeks worth of laundry would be about 14 pairs of socks and shorts. 6-10 t-shirts. And probably about 5-6 pairs of jeans, if that. That's not so much.
