Just got off the phone with Direct TV Service Tech in Ft Myers Fl. There will be no sale of DTV to Dish TV. For now we are stuck with ATT. DTV is for sale but don't expect that to happen anytime soon. 4th Tech coming to my house tomorrow to try to fix my problem. Supposedly LEAD Tech.

Like I have said before million's of customers are leaving sat/cable TV every year, streaming is the new better way.

Don't waste your money on a fancy new satellite equipment for your RV cause it soon will be junk..

18 months sat/cable TV will roll over and die..

:R

You HAVE been saying this same 18 months "prediction" for the last THREE or more YEARS.. That IS much more than the supposed "18 months" of your predictions and is a moving target for you to troll with..

I say give your "rant" a rest and butt out..

WRONG

THe sale of DirecTV to AT&T was not good for DirecTV.. The problem is if Direc is sold to DISH you end up with basically a monopoly (Oh sure there is Orby but they are a different technology and not nearly competition.. yet).

Just like broadcast media. where there uses to be hundreds of companies.. We are down to about six.

I don't know what "different technology" you think Orby uses than the other two DBS services, but now that the FCC has said streaming TV is a viable competitor to cable and satellite TV, claiming a Dish/DTV merger is a monopoly falls apart pretty quickly.

I wonder if the big problems with Directv Customer Service is actually concentrated on forums like this. Maybe it is only a problem for RV type uses. I have both home and commercial services from Directv and never have an issue other than when they are having a fight over content fees and a channel is blacked out or the occasional loss of signal in heavy rain or snow. Both of those cure themselves without intervention of a customer service agent.
It just might be that customers with RVs constitute 2% of their business and 90% of their problems. If that is case, it might be in Directv's interest to actively eliminate that segment of the market.

DirecTV is bleeding customers and it has very little to do with RVers.
Two different issues. All legacy TV services have been losing customers and will likely continue to do so. I don't think there are any statistics that would answer the other issue one way or that other and that issue would be "Is the quality of customer service at Directv a significant reason for the decline in subscriptions?" I really don't believe that a high percentage of the customers who have left Directv have done so due to a problem relating to actual customer service. I think most have left due to cost and the availability of alternative services that now better meet their needs.
My point was if the RV segment of the Directv market continually has to engage customer service Directv might be better off just abandoning that market. Businesses make that decision all the time. Firing customers is often a good business decision. If Directv's hardware, software and business practices do not mesh seamlessly with RV use they may very well decide RV use is not in the plans moving forward.

I'm active on a couple of direct broadcast satellite TV forums, and the complaints about DTV/AT&T's customer service are significantly stronger than the complaints about Dish's customer service. And RV'ers are very much in the minority on those forums.

"Today during AT&T’s 3rd quarter 2019 earnings call, AT&T put out the idea that DIRECTV could be on the table for sale or a merger/partnership. According to AT&T, there are no “sacred cows” in its portfolio and it directly pointed a finger at AT&T’s DIRECTV satellite TV service."

To get back on track, AT&T is banking on its new AT&T TV streaming service, which is different from AT&T TV Now despite having a nearly identical name. Unlike AT&T TV Now, AT&T TV has two-year contracts, prices that rise automatically after a year, fees for activation and early termination of service, a Regional Sports Fee, and "certain other additional fees and charges."

ROFLMAO, That will save em for sure.

Wow 4 Billion new customers for this new service, that means that of all 7 billion people who currently inhabit the earth 4 out of 7 will be subscribers. Theres gonna be a lot of mud huts and other rudimentary type accomodations that don t even have telephones or electricity or even running water signing up for this bargain!

Can’t wait for Elon to get his world wide sat network up. He has some up now and has applied for permits for 30,000 small low altitude sats.I figure he can get about 4 Billion customers. At an average $10 / mo that’s an income of 40 Billion/mo, not bad, I’ll be happy to pay it and say goodbye to Dish.

4 billion customers? I don't think so. StarLink's main customers will be financial markets who will pay through the nose for shorter Internet access times.

$10 a month LOL?
