Scooter/Moped or Electric Bike, Cant Make Up My Mind

Wanting to get something for fast easy transportation around RV parks and to store, sometimes to the local bar for a cold draft beer.

Moped in some states require a tag and electric bikes seem to not have issues with tags, some electric bikes can be very fast if I spend over $2000.

What do you RVers have and what works best. :@

I purchased a Geo Orbital Electric Wheel for my wife. It cost $1000.00 but since all the components are contained inside of the front wheel (except the throttle) it has the advantage of being removed from one bicycle and simply moved to another bike using the quick release hub. That cost includes shipping.

Timmac, your gonna laugh but it looks like the Jeep has a 2" receiver. So a carrier for a small unit could go there. You'd have to load it before loading the Jeep is all.
Impressive setup.

Moped
technically most places this 49cc (2) stroke engine, uses pedals to start, runs about 32mph limited HP (1.5hp?)
Calif Mopeds can get a permanent TAG one time fee, used too be $15, No drivers license needed

Noped (unoffical name)
49cc or less (2) stoke engine, NO bicycle pedals, has some other means of starting, has kick start , elec, spring crank etc..

GAS Scooter or motorcycle (4) stroke engine larger than 49cc , requires License in most states

Electric bicycle has pedals limited to 25MPH top speed legally

I used to be heavily into HONDA NoPeds

check the available travel distance on battery power carefully

my preference is FOR gasoline power , its all about the distance, i might want to travel
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

Timmac, there is nothing wrong with a carrier, and they arent huge or expensive. Google "Motorcycle carrier" and a bunch come up from $100 to $250 that will easily carry a 250-450 cc bike.

With my issues I either need a lift system to lift bike away from hitch to hookup my trailer if I was to go with a larger motorcycle such as 200cc, or I got to go with a small moped or electric bike to fit on my trailer that was built just big enough for my Jeep and small boat.

A motorcycle lift system would cost around $2000 plus the cost of a larger motorcycle and insurance, to much money for something to be used a few times a year or so.

There are many many 50cc scooter models made. Trouble is, very few are marketed in the US. The so-called moped of today is a far cry from the moped 30 years or so ago. Way more power. Far more comfortable. Much faster too.

If it is something to go get beer with look for carrying ability more than anything else. A flat floor in front of the seat. Under seat storage. A carrier that a box can be mounted on. All good things to have.

This is my primary transport in Bermuda. It happens to be a 150cc but the island is crawling with 50cc bikes of similar style.

I have been looking at electric bikes mainly because they can be ridden on bike trails where gas motors are not allowed.

I'm considering the same things right now. I've narrowed it to either of these:

I think this Yamaha Zuma 50F totally woops the Honda Ruckus, if for no other reason than it has good storage.

This Rad Mini Electric Bike may be the better option though, especially since I will want two of them, and I'm limited on payload in my Ram 1500.

We have a 49cc gas moped and unless the person riding on it is quite heavy, it will do 35 mph or so. Officer should not have been able to change whatever written law there was for the state.

Ours is not plated in our home state. No insurance required. We do have a registration sticker that has a number on it and the name of the state and it cost $15 for 3 years. That was not required either as it was just to help in case of theft. If we are legal in our home state, we are legal in any state just like with the cars. If you become a resident in a state that requires licensing and insurance, then you need to do it.

Well it seems Nevada does require plates on moped now but no insurance if its under 50 cc and does not exceed 30 mph, but other states require insurance on mopeds, so when traveling out of state with moped I will have a hard time seeing if I am legal or not.

I have a motorcycle licence but was avoiding any extra insurance, so far a fast electric bike looks better..

If I have to have insurance I might as well and get a 200cc bike but than that requires a expensive lift for my motorhome.

back when I bought my mopeds they did not have to be licensed/registered/etc. if they had pedals. no pedals, needed to jump thru hoops.

Just bought the first of what I expect to become 2 scooters, 150 cc it will do 60 tops seems to ride decently at 40-45 without straining, weighs about 220 lbs. Still have to see how it does on a dirt road.

We use my wife's Suzuki !Boulevard S40. It goes one a hitch carrier kn the back of the class c just fine. Only weighs around 380lbs and carries both of us with no issues. Yes, you need a motorcycle license, but it's so much more versatile than a scooter or electric bike

My son had a ruckus and he got stopped for speeding. The officer didn't like him and said it went to fast for a 49cc and he should get it registered. Long story short he had to get a motorcycle license, which he did.
I have since bought it from him and it is not registered. It has about 6500 miles still runs good but it won't keep up speed on hills. I never take it with the camper, we take pedals bikes and I am looking for an electric one myself.
