Should I re-balance the tires?

I have an appointment with the tire shop that originally installed the tires on the trailer. The reason for the appointment is one of the tires lost the weights. The guys said it is not necessary to have it done, as a matter of fact (he says), other shops don't even balance them at all. The other reason is to rotate the tires.

Should I keep the appointment or cancel it? I have 1 1/2 days to decide.

Thanks for the input. I will go ahead and keep the appointment to rebalance the tires. While they do the rebalancing, I will have them rotate the tires also.

Given that trailer tires live in a very ruff environment, I would not X the tires side to side reversing the rotation and forcing the belts and plys to take a new set. Move them just front to back if you move them at all.

Yes, that is what I will request.

I buy my tires at Costco and they balance and rebalance as necessary. They also rotate No Xtra charge.

If trailer axles are aligned properly, why would the tires ever need to be rotated?

Is rotating trailer tires as needed as it is on a car? How much different is wear between 2 axles? Seems it would be far lower than on a car since the you're not turning the front wheels.

Most reputable shops will check the balance without even asking and rebalance as necessary. Just standard procedure, part of every service.
They will also do a visual check of all components anything a wheel is off.

Keep it! Re-balance it! I would only move the tires front to back, not Xing them.

Some aluminum rims I have seen and once had have thick lips on the edges and weights would not stay, My current rims have the adhesive backed weights around the outside of the rim and on the side where they can't be seen. Haven't lost any of those.

Anything that rotates benefits from balancingโ€ฆ

However if the tire dealer doesnโ€™t have the equipment and knowledge to do it right, it might be a waste of your time and moneyโ€ฆ

If you have steel wheels they will need to be balanced lug centricโ€ฆ if they look at you like a deer looks into your headlights itโ€™s time to find a better tire dealerโ€ฆ

my BIL drives trucks and he tells stories of tires on truck trailers that aren't balanced, he told me to balance mine and they last longer and the screws in the
tt don't back out any more.

I lost the weights on one side of my trailer running up and down I59 four or five times within a two month time frame. I ended up eating up one tire pretty bad before I realized the balance weights had been knocked off due to the very bad buckling concrete I59 in northern ALABAMA.

I have always balanced all tires...

My camper dame new without balanced tires. When I had them done, I noticed a real change. No more mess of stuff shifting inside when traveling.
