Tire Wear While Towing

We are starting a 10,000 mile trip this summer towing our Honda Fit with manual transmission four down behind our Class A.

Should we expect more or less front tire wear on the Fit while towing as opposed to normal driving?

Sometimes FWD cars have wheel alignment settings such that front tires wear faster in trail (towing condition) than they do when serving as drive wheels. But not always. I've not yet towed my Fit far enough to know whether this matters. Actually, at 25,000 miles with tire rotations every 5000, I've not yet figured out "normal" wear, the OEM tires still have almost as much tread as they did when new.

2012 Base Fit. The Sport has quite different tires and wheels.

Our OEM tires on our Honda Fit Sport lasted about 29,000 miles driving + at least another 20,000 miles towing. Tire wear was pretty even all over.

What about abnormal tire wear on Aspect 30J towing 2007 C-Rv. First trip out I noticed feathering on both front tires. We had minimum load on this trial run in our new RV. Rear Air springs set to 50PSI.

I have never noticed any difference in the tire wear when towing my Subaru.

We have driven our Odyssey 125,000 miles and towed it 80,000 miles. We rotate the tires based upon the combined total number of miles, not just the driven or towed miles.

The front tires do take more of a hit being towed, but not something to worry about. Have the tires rotated along the way.
