I am towing a Ford F150 behind my Dynamax 300ST. I have the Blue Ox Adventa with supplemental braking system. The weight is no problem as I have a 325HP Cummings; but I'm not happy with the way the toad seems to be the "tail wagging the dog" when the road is grooved or rounding curves. I had Freightliner install front and rear sway bars but that didn't help. One tech suggested that the F150 length (probably around 22 ft) versus the Dynamax only being 30 feet might be the issue. Has anyone had any experience towing a pick up truck?
Well carrothers,
We have an '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the C-7 330HP CAT and the Allison MH3000 trans and, we've been towing a 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 Extended cab which, most of the time, is loaded with a "Rampage Motorcycle lift" and, it's carrying a 2008 Honda GL 1800 Goldwing.
Now, the coach, according to a certified scale, weighs right at 26,120 lbs. and that's loaded for travel. The truck, also according to a certified scale, comes in at, 5,300 lbs. The lift, real close to 300 lbs. And finally, the Honda Golding, real close to 900 lbs. S
So, we're dragging along behind our 26,120 lb. coach, around 6,500 lbs. We've been doing it this way now for about 8,000 to 10,000 miles now and, so far, we've not had any ill-handling issues what so ever. The coach goes straight down the road. Oh, it knows the truck is there, that's for sure. It's effects are on grades but, as far as regular handling, steering, tracking, braking, etc., no problems.
