Trim those trees.. please!!

Untrimmed trees.. my nemesis.

I'm in a very nice CG in northern AZ. Couple nasty trees are going to be a problem when leaving.

I went to the office and asked if they could trim. He asked "what is the length of your rig?" Ok, I have no idea why that matters.. it's the height. He didn't ask any details, didn't write anything down, didn't respond in any way positive. He just kept looking at me and nodding like I was speaking a foreign language.

I have a feeling I'll be getting up top of my 5er and doing a little branch lopping myself.

Hey Fizz, trees grow towards the sunlight. That means the real culprit is the person that cut the road thru and in the process destroyed thousands of trees.
Which BTW are considered a renewable resource. 🙂

To you it's just a harmless branch trimming but in reality it's the first cut. You made room on the right the next guy makes room on the left. Somebody else carved his initials in a 100 year old oak. I get it and it sucks. However, you do realize you are on an RV web site? ;). Besides, not everybody camps in state and national parks in natural settings. In fact, most probably stay at some place with a cement pad and hookups. But again, as a 44 year old Junior Ranger, I agree.

I love it when people just say 'go elsewhere.'

I drove 190 miles, then up a 7 mile canyon road to a beautiful view and serenity. And you want me to turn around and go elsewhere rather than trim a few nasty tree limbs that NOBODY will even notice is gone.

You act like trees and bushes should be allowed to grow unchecked until not even you and your tent can get in. We're talking about trimming, not denuding the campground.

I take it one step further...we carry an electric weed eater and a push mower and keep the site neatly trimmed before and during our stay. I have had multiple poop pipes cut and a power cord cut in the past. I have in the past pruned hedges in a site or two to get into a site.

Recently had a buddy lose both his antenna and an AC cover (which damaged the condenser). Expensive fix, which the RV park shrugged it off...

When one PAYS for an RV site to put their RV in, there is a moral and possibly legal expectation that the site will not cause damage to one's vehicle and that everything promised (including clearance and length) is as advertised.

Paying for an RV site in an RV friendly park that can only be used if branches scratch your vehicle is insane. That's kind of like getting a hotel room with bed bugs, a broken heater or AC, or a toilet that doesn't flush and then being told that complaining is for selfish people. How about a hotel room with jagged metal on the door that rips your pants or suitcase as you enter. That sounds fun.

Trimming branches is good for both the trees and the RV's.

And your clients will be much happier not having to worry about or deal with damage to their rigs. I know I appreciate a well maintained park very much.

At 13' 5" I check before entering a Campground or even call to verify 14' clearance. I have full body paint and rigid branches are no friend!
