My truck has turned 10 years old but the camper it tows is only nine.

For those campgrounds with a "ten year rule," does it mean both units have to be under ten years?

Not trolling, just kidding.

I haven't been turned away yet. My 2 MHs are 20 & 40 years old and get a lot of interest but not refused. It also helps to have a lot of relatives who let you park in their driveways.

Why would someone put out money to dump an old RV at a park, when they can simply drive it to an empty road and dump it there? And most people know that simply removing the plates doesn't make it unidentifiable - there is still the VIN.

The reason for the rule is simply because it gives park owners the flexibility to deny unwanted people from staying in their parks - and the odds of the unwanted arriving in old junker RVs is greater than their arriving in new ones.

If anybody on this forum can actually identify the year of every RV that was ever made by looking at it, raise your hand. Neither can RV park owners.
There are two reasons for the rule.
1. People on this very forum complain about old, beat up RVs in a park where they are staying. That's bad advertising for the RV park.
2. An RV must be the toughest thing to throw away. Unless you find a salvage yard that can part it out, you're out of luck. OR, you can pull into an RV park that will take you. (Don't use your real name.) Then at night, remove the license plates from the RV or TT, hop in the TV or toad, and hit the road, making it the park owner's problem.
My 'C' turns 10 this year. But its stored in a heated building that I own when not on the road, and looks new. Next year, it magically becomes a 2006. If I get caught, they don't take away my next birthday, I just have to leave.
P.S. If anybody out there can identify the year of a classic Airstream by looking at it....

When I had an older travel trailer it seemed to get a year newer every year and I was never turned away.

I only ran into such an RV park once and as my rig was well under I went ahead and made reservations. It was interesting to find when we arrive the park was pretty old and not all that nice. I also noted a few rigs well over 10 years and some not so well maintained.

Really? Stuff started breaking on mine before it was 1.5 years old. Started with the plastic license plate tabs and went downhill from there.

HA one of the dumbest things ive ever heard of. my tv is 13 and my tt is 24. I don't want to camp with that up tight crowd anyways. if I had that kind of money I wouldn't be camping in their fields I mean parks

I have not been to a camp ground that had an age limit , but I have been at one that required a RVIAA sticker

Not run into the 10 year rule yet .........been camping 30 years maybe they want us to quit after 10 🙂 ...... no chance if run into it just go elsewhere. Wish I could get the 1958 trailer that I see every summer at the campground........

X 2 I agree, those that cater to the new RV's do not need this country boy's business anyway. I drive and tow what I want not what some high and mighty RV park tells me I have to own.

Avoid any possible embarrassment by avoiding parks that have age rules. I do. 😄
