Weight causing tires to rub inside of trailer

When my Maverick (utv) is loaded in the garage of my toy hauler its causing the trailer to sag... naturally. But this past weekend I had a blowout and discovered it was because when going around turns on winding roads the extra weight was causing my tires to rub on an aluminum boxed area of the trailer that sits just above and to the inside of the tires. When going straight down the highway all is fine it seems to only rub when weight is shifted side to side. Im well within the cargo capacity of my trailer when loaded so my question is, is there anything I can get to control the sag or help with the side to side weight that will keep the tires from rubbing? I've done a little searching and all I've found is Timbren Trailer enhancements. Has anybody used these? If so is this the answer to my problem or is there something else I should be looking at?

By the time I got done it was getting dark so didn't snap any pics. Next week when I bring it home to gear up for our trip I'll get under it and snap a few. My welds are ugly lol but I got good penetration in the cracks so that's all that matters. The mor/Ryde cross members are pretty trick and I think are gonna work great. I bought 3 but could only use 2 so I have one for sale if anybody is interested in giving them a try. I have several go pro cameras and several different mounts so maybe I'll see about mounting one under the trailer before our trip and see if I can record any movement

I think farther back might be better to try and keep all 3 hangers in better focus. You want to be directly aimed at the spring hangers. I don't know about a magnet, I'd be afraid of it falling off. Something like electrical tape or zip ties might be better. Regardless, you don't want the camera moving around. Depending on the camera, it might help to also temporarily mount a light (flashlight?) aimed at the hangers due to the high contrast between the underside of the TT and the bright sunlight.

It'd be a kind of fun experiment and you don't know what you might learn. It will depend on the design of the particular frame and you *could* be very surprised at what you see. If anyone does this, it'd be interesting to see a video clip.

No, I understand it, had the problem and repaired it, just didn't think it would flex that much.
I have adjustable hangers too and am setup for the most height = more leverage, more flexing.

Don't forget ya gotta post pics! ๐Ÿ™‚ Good to hear you got it done (almost).

If you have a camcorder, if you want to see what's really going on while travelling, lash one somehow to the frame ahead of the axles and see if the spring hangers move. The greatest amount of differential left-right force on the spring hangers is when you are turning 90 degrees (dry pavement) due to different turning radii of the axles. This can exert a tremendous amount of force on the hangers. With all the work you've done, you shouldn't see much movement, if any. Previously, you would have seen a lot - an inch or more left or right at the bottom of a hanger.

Well I got the new 2900# leaf springs in. I also installed Mor/Ryde cross members on the front and middle hangers. I couldn't fit one across the back hangers because my black/grey water plumbing was in the way. So I welded in some flat bar on the outside of the ibeams and connected it to the flanges (as seen on here. I found 2 more cracks, one on each side above the rear hangers. These were bad you could actually see through them so I laid a bead over those. I worked on this thing for 7 hours and it beat the hell out of me but all in all I feel good about the repairs I did. I loaded up my sxs and with the new springs she doesn't sit near as low as she did before. With the new cross members and bracing the wheels should stay in line. I ended up going with the Mor/Ryde xfactor crossmembers instead of welding in steel tubing. It increased my cost significantly but I'm not worried about that. Loaded up on flat bar today so I can weld in some support on the I beam. I also ordered new equalizers and 4 new 2900# springs. Parts should be delivered this week sometime and I hope to make the repairs this weekend

This thread went way off track lol. MM if you look back at my post and the pictures I posted, I never said the frame was rubbing against the tires. And as far as I can tell the tires I just replaced were the original ST tires that came on the trailer and I replaced those with ST tires also.
