Trucks do not have a GCWR number stickerd nor is it a requirement to have one.

Some truck facts from your numbers.
'97 3500 DRW GM truck with a 454 big block
has a 10000 lb GVWR
has a 4100 FAWR
has a 7500 RAWR
tow ratings run up to 10000 lbs
These numbers are all you need.

I have a '98 3500 DRW 454 crew cab 4x4 4.10 gears with a 10000 lb tow rating. I use this truck custom hauling cattle/horses pasture to pasture or to sales barns with a 15.5k GN tri axle (7k axles)stock trailer.

This trucks rear axle weighs 3040 lb which leaves 4400 lbs for a payload. As I mentioned trucks don't carry a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) however a 10k tow rating and a 10k GVWR can give you a 20k GCWR.
When you scale the truck keep a copy of separate front and rear axle weights in the glove box. A single gross weight with no axle weight numbers is worthless number for a truck towing a trailer.

It got off topic because you mentioned it. If you wanted to talk exclusively about weight you should have left that part out. It's called directing the conversation.

You can't possibly be serious at this point.

Your DRW truck should weigh around 6500lbs empty, as it's a '97 and a 2WD. It has a 10,000lb GVWR. That leaves you 3500lbs of payload capacity for the trailer's pin weight and your family.

The trailer has a 7500lb GVWR, so worst case scenario if you load it with lead ingots and actually hit that 7500lb mark, and it has a worst-case 30% pin weight, you have a pin of around 2100lbs.

3500 - 2100 = 1400lbs left for you and your family. It is highly likely that the pin weight is much less than that, though.

The only way you will be over GVWR is if there are six of you and you all weigh more than an average of 240lbs each.

The trailer you are looking at is lightweight. You have plenty of truck, so either stop worrying or let us in on the joke.

1. IMHO: Any RV with water damage not repaired by a reputable repair shop with documentation, pic's, and warranty towards the repair, I'd leave that sucker flat. There's about a hundred thousand other RV's out there without water damage for you to pick from.
