A friend is asking me about these. He has a 30 lb terrier that will even pull with his choke collar. I recommended training class but he doesn't have access to one. I went online and found 3 possibles. Has anyone any experience with these?

This is a training issue. The gentle leader, as mentioned above, does work, but it can put the dog at risk of injury if it runs against a loose lead and jerks it neck.A better choice is the Easy Walker harness.

Again, this is a training issue that no one collar or harness will be magic and stop the dog from the unwanted behavior.

Sporn makes a no-pull harness that is well-padded and easy to put on the dog, but spreads the dog's "pull" around its girth, not neck. Sure made for a pleasant stroll with my daughter's hyper pointer-mix who could have dragged a truck by her regular collar....

Cesar Millan used a leash that went high up on the dog's neck. That allowed for better control.
Get one of Cesar's videos for lots of good ideas on how to be the Pack Leader instead of the dog.
The first thing Cesar says is for the human to be the first one out the door instead of the dog. This is at least a hint of dominance over the dog.

Get the paper back version of this, learn it, practice it, work with the dog, and in a very short time, you won't need any kind of specialty leash. The paper back version is less than $5.00:

Id recommend the gentle leader, my dog hated it at first but got used to it and now he knows if he starts to pull it will bring the snot downward, doesnt like to be pulled down but he also got used to it. I have 2 gentle leaders my dog out grew it, its size Medium I can ship it to you if you want it.

I am very happy with the "Gentle Leader" got it off of Amazon. It truly is like some comments stated,"Its like power steering for dogs"
My dog Hank is a Pointer/Lab mix, we walk a minimum of three miles a day and he is a puller!! I got the Gentle leader to help and it sure does! He does not like the pressure it puts across his snout, He figured out real quickly it was him doing it and calmed right down.I used it every day for a month and he became a very disciplined walker. I went back to a standard collar and leash, when ever he starts to being naughty by pulling or excesive sniffing I go back to the gentle for a day or two and hes corrected! Works Great!(not Hank in the Picture)

My experience - doesn't matter what type of leash/collar you use - if the dog is not trained, it will pull on any and every leash/collar.

If he can't find a full-fledged training, then he should talk to some local knowledgeable dog folks and see if one would give him some one on one assistance.
