We just installed two ultra-leather couches in our coach. Anyone have any ideas how to keep our dog off of them when we are not around? Thanks!!

x2 When you let dogs on furniture or beds a subtle psychological shift takes place in their heads about their position in the "Pack" I think. This leads to problems of other kinds. I agree they dont belong on the furniture.

Yes, my dog is trained not to get on furniture and doesn't until we leave. He doesn't like not being with his people. But, as you know you can't always take them with you. We have even left a radio on but that didn't work either. So now I'm trying to find other ways that people have done to keep him off the furniture.

I'm officially confused now.

If your dog has been trained to not get on furniture, why do you think that will change just because you get new couches?

Let them lay on the couch for crying out loud!

This is why you have a vacuum cleaner....

We got leather furniture so the dog wouldn't hurt it. Why can't the dog lay on the couch or in a chair? The dog is not under foot when on the couch ether.

Sofa Scram....
Won't hurt or shock your pals, but will most certainly have them jumping off the couch VERY quickly and thinking twice about going up again...

Works great...we used ours only once and it did the trick...

I'm just laughing on how creative we have to be to keep our pets and sanity at the sometime. I have to close off our bedroom to keep our dog from not only climbing on our bed but under the covers every time we leave. It's just not allowed!! He doesn't have to be with his people ALL the time.

Scat Mat. Then get a 12 volt adapter, to plug into the cigarette lighter and run the things.

It is a grey mat, with tiny electrodes all over them. Basically it is like a shock collor that is 6' long and 2' wide. Put them where you do not want the dogs to be. . . I used them to keep the dogs out of the bedroom, but still leave the door open. One dog was very flatulent!

Buy a couple of plastic carpet runners that have the little pointy nubs on the bottom. Put them on the couches upside down (so the nubs are pointing up) when you're not there. You can roll them up when not in use.
