Greyson was a good kitty.

I'm not really a cat person. I love cats in the same context as I love all animals, just not the same as I love dogs and horses. Greyson was semi-feral. He lived his entire life within 100 feet of where he was born. He was one badass cat, not the least bit afraid of firmly putting a dog in his place or kicking butt on any cat that dared try stealing his cat food. I tried numerous times to make him a house cat, but he'd have none of it, screaming at the door the minute it was shut. Last week I took him to the vet because he had suddenly lost a lot of weight. She determined he needed a couple of teeth pulled. He was given a long acting antibiotic shot, since he isn't easy to medicate. Today I decided to take him back to the vet because he just wasn't bouncing back. This time she found a tumor in his belly. Rest In Peace Greyson. You were a good cat.

LOL CA POPPY! Guess it has it's advantages to be easy to train. I called Greyson "whiney cat" because he had the whiniest (sp?) voice! Always demanding. Even though he had food in the barn and food on the front porch, he acted like he had never been fed everytime he saw me. Dang I'm going to miss that annoying cat!!

Greyson was a beautiful kitty and was very fortunate to have lived in your life. He was free and happy and thanks to you did not have to suffer when it came time to cross over to the Rainbow Bridge. RIP-Greyson.

He was a good cat. He always came running when he heard my car pull in. So funny with his tail in the air, cat style, leading me to the porch; to feed him, of course, can't presume a cat loved me 🙂

Edna, our 18 yr old orange tabby does the same thing. She'll find me, tap me with her paw, then turn around and walk through the house with her tail straight up like an antenna, turning her head around occasionally to make sure I'm still following, until we get to where the cat treats are. If I seem to get distracted she'll say Mur-row? with the question mark in her voice. I'm her person that she does this with, so I guess I'm the one who is best trained. :W Like dogs, cats love routine and predictability, especially when it comes to food.

Cats get very attached to their humans and not just for food. People have a harder time understanding that, because cats don't have the same social structure hard wired in that dogs do. They don't have any concept of following a leader... if they hang out with you it's because they like you.

With cats, it's more like a co-dependent relationship. A cat will never admit he adores you, he has too much vanity for that, but you were the source of all his rewards. That made you quite lovable in his eyes. :B

Yea he did, that's cat speak. It funny how they can become a part of us even though they tend to sometimes be stand-offish. It's sometimes a different relationship than with a dog, but it's still love. Sorry for your loss.

13 IS a good long life for a barn cat, and he sounded like a tough guy (which is what you want!) Sorry for your loss 😞

Thank you everyone.

CA Poppy, he was 13 years old. Pretty old for a barn cat, really.

I'm sorry for your loss dodge guy. We just put hubby's dog down a month ago. It never gets easy.

What a beautiful cat. It sounds like Greyson lived exactly the life he loved most. He was lucky to have friends like you and you were lucky enough to share life with him. What a blessing that you were able to save him a lot of suffering in his final days.
