Pet Couch Covers

We just purchased a new RV...Montana High Country 325RL. It was on the lot and happened to come with leather couch. Not my first choice but a beautiful unit and great deal including trade in. My question: we have three dogs and feel I need to cover the leather couch so they don't scratch or put holes in. Any suggestions on the best covers for leather.

Have had our leather couch and loveseat for many, many years. The leather has endured six dogs (1 or 2 at a time) and one cat.

I vacuum the crevasses in the leather cushions and around the arms each week, and wipe with a damp cloth as needed (muddy paws). Very easy care!

Love this furniture! Still looks as good as the day we got it.

I dont know about leather, covering it would be slippery unless you use the fitted sheets as mentioned I use a matress pad and cover that with fitted sheets which i can rotate depending on the season, flowers for spring, different pattern for fall etc I also found that light canvas will work over the bed spread and couch to protect from the toe nails, Canvas comes in colors and is very durable and washable

With dogs I will take leather every time, even with our Labs there is never a mark or scratch and certainly no holes.
Easy to clean and surely looks a whole lot better that something thrown over the couch.

My show dogs nails are dremelled so far back you can't see them and they still can make marks on leather when they push off or jump on.

If you keep your dogs' nails trimmed properly, they won't damage the leather.

I would like to add my 2 cents. We have 2 Golden Retrievers and 2 Boston Terriers that we RV with. After many years of using an old bedspread or quilt to cover our cloth sofa, I FINALLY discovered a fitted sheet works great. I use a twin size as it fits so well and the elastic catches at the bottom of the sofa and over the back.
I was so tired of constantly tucking in the quilt etc. now the sheet pretty much stays put.

Ditto X10!
The fitted sheet does fit perfectly on an RV couch. It 'stays in place' with the fitted corners.

Looks nice, on color and no nasty looking patterns like a blanket etc. and the best part is you just throw it in the wash. I have 2 designated for the couch so when one gets dirty and ready for the wash the other one goes on to protect it from dog hairs. Works Great!

Thank you for all the comments. My husband just says let it go and find out....cover if something happens. I just can't vision in my mine my golden or two mini dachshund jumping on the leather couch and not putting holes or scratches. Friends of ours with dogs say they prefer leather for dogs as well. Granted the couch will look nicer without the cover.

We bought elasticized cushion covers at slipcovers.com. They show how to measure your cushions. They're a bit spendy, but protect our sofa cushions from the dogs. We also put a throw on the sofa because the dogs seem to like that.

I know what you mean. I have an 87-pound greyhound who likes to get up on my dash to see what's going on outside. He doesn't lay on it, like my departed GSD Dash did (thus my username), but it may be only a matter of time.

We have leather in the house and leather in the last two TT. We got leather because we have a dog.

This is what I use on my sofa. It fits the sofa nicely, blends in with the color and decor, and protects the sofa from sharp claws. It is also soft and cushy and the dogs and I all love to lay on it.

I would love to have leather instead of cloth. We searched everywhere but couldn't find the floorplan we wanted with leather instead of cloth. I am searching now for leather to cover what we have. The best part of leather is that dog hair doesn't get stuck to it and is easy to clean. We have leather sofas and chairs in our house - more than 15 years old - and it doesn't show the wear the fabric would by now. In fact, they look brand new except for the cushion sag...
