Pet Couch Covers

We just purchased a new RV...Montana High Country 325RL. It was on the lot and happened to come with leather couch. Not my first choice but a beautiful unit and great deal including trade in. My question: we have three dogs and feel I need to cover the leather couch so they don't scratch or put holes in. Any suggestions on the best covers for leather.

I think the problem with leather is seen more with puppies. Their toenails are smaller and very sharp whereas the adults toenails have usually gotten bigger and are duller points from being walked, nails clipped etc. The puppy nails grow so fast. I can see kitty nails being a problem too.

I worry more about my cloth couch than I do the leather one. That being said DW makes me keep them both covered. She made fleece tie blankets, different designs for what ever mode she is in, and then each top corner has a small loop in it that hooks on to a 3M hook(the stick and release type) attached to the wall behind the couch. she makes them extra long to leave enough material to stuff between the back and seats so the dogs don't knock them off each trip up and down.

If you decide to go with covers...beside blankets, towels, etc...here is another option....Sofa_Saver...LINK

We have over the years up to 5 standard poodles at a given time on our home and MH leather furniture. Our home couch is over 10 years old, has never been covered with anything except the poodles 🙂 it still looks like new.

Our MH is ultra leather, because it is a cream colour it needs to be wiped down regularly but we do not cover it. We have a few fabric pillows on it as the dogs like to use them as head rests.

So far no holes, no scratches. We used to have a cloth one. Ditched it right away and replaced it with the leather. Would never have anything else with dogs.

Pretty much the same sentiment here. Leather is great for dogs.

I have a hard time getting anything to stay on the couch (ours is a sleeper sofa). I use a cheap bed spread that I wrap around the cushions and anchor in the sleeper mechanism when I close it up. It holds the spread and cushions in place and is easily washed and replaced. No damage so far to the couch.

I'll have to get a picture to show you, it's a little hard to explain 🙂

I use large fleece blankets or sheets. If you sew,(or even safety pin) loops on the back to hold them in place. Get them large enough to tuck in where the seat meets the back. After every trip, they go into the washer. I had fitted seat covers but they were too hard to get on/off, so they didn't get laundered as much as the homemade covers.
