1998 Dometic RM 2652 refrigerator not cooling

The unit is not cooling. On AC and gas the unit is hot though all the pipes and but not cooling. No signs of yellow powder or sludge anywhere in the back of the refrigerator but there are 2 holes in the Freezer.

The heating element gets hot as so do all the pipes, leveling tank/chamber gets hot, I hear gurgling from that leveling tank, its not consistent though, sounds like its trying to boil.


I took some electronic measurements. I am not an expert on the electronic test meters but think I did it right. I set the OHM meter to 20k and got these readings:

Heating Element:39.5 (I know you said 44ohms was right but is 39.,5 ok)

Thermistor: 4.79 at around 75 degrees, 11.25 when put into ice cold water

At 20k ohm on meter does this seem right for the thermistor ohm reading?

I am getting 12.9 volts (same as my brand new deep cycle battery) to the circuit board.

Both fuses are good, I checked with the OHM meter, both are working.

LP works, tank gets hot, leveling tank/chamber gets hot, I hear gurgling from that leveling tank. its not consistent though, sounds like its trying to boil.

Which company do you recommend to buy a refurbished cooling unit from? There are several companies online that sell them for the same price. Anyone know where I can buy a good used2 way fridge?

I pulled out the bad Cooling unit the other day and discovered a lot of corrosion on the aluminum plates. The aluminum plates were pretty badly corroded, with a couple holes that go all the way through and deep crevices.

I bought a new cooling unit, its in route, I want to get the fridge ready to go back together today.

RV cool is cheaper if I do it myself which looks like it will be the case. I am way to far from Shipshewana, Indiana. But thanks for the advice.

gas is gone new or rebuilt unit . try these guys national refrig shipshewana indiana. .they have great reviews and are less than half the cost of new.

Yes 24 hours still nothing. All the pipes are hot but neither fridge or freezer change temperature

question, are turning it on, WAITING at least 8hrs before checking? it takes about 12hrs for mine to go from warm to froze in the freezer.and the box is down to 34deg.
