Will these also display discharge current? Other eBay listings claim that they do but there seems to be no provision for a minus symbol

This thing is not meant to be a portable diagnostic instrument. Hand held instruments have finer resolution and are far more rugged.

These are DC , battery banks, DIY electric vehicle etc..

And yes there are some different ones for AC, using a CT coil

I have one I built in to a plastic ammo box, with 30 amp RV pigtails
So I can measure shore power or portable generator power

I have 2 of them to monitor inverter amps and battery to coach amps
I made extender cables about 15 feet long. Both work great.
Kind of an eye opener about the amps the inverter pulls when she uses her hair dryer or we run the micro wave. We have a 3000 watt inverter.

My clamp on meter does both AC and DC and uses a Hall sensor. I haven't seen a panel meter that does both.

I would not mind a couple of big hall effect. Do they work on AC and DC or Just one or the other???

I'd love to monitor all current on the big battery banks. but. alas shunts cost and are harder to install

One thing to note is that the 400 amp version has a resolution of 1 amp. The 100 amp version has a resolution of .3 amp.

It's faster to install than a shunt and less exposed to shorts and longs.

Heck I may even order one for the toad. It would have screamed PROBLEM! when the starter motor slowly was dying. I need a titanic capacitor to smuuuuuuuuuth out the hungarian movie actress MoPar ECU voltage regulator readings.

I don't know but that wire they show for the current carrying wire. at 400 amps that puppy is a flash bulb.
