Question about my Honda 2000 and aux tank

I've run my Honda 2000 steady for a week at a time when the aux tank and the genny are at the same level. Sweet setup! But I'm wondering if the Honda fuel pump will supply enough lift if it's sitting 4-5' above the fuel tank, which is on the ground. Will it stress the fuel pump?

It's going to take less than 1 psi additional pressure to make the lift. I hardly think it would do damage, but you can see what the pump can handle by setting the genny higher up (maybe on the roof of your truck or your RV) with the aux tank on the ground. See where the pump gives up and the genny stops. Keep the elevation change less than half of the max and you should be OK. (no guarantees) Does the owners manual say anything about using aux tanks? The needle and seat in the float bowl need to be able to counteract the fuel pump pressure. In older carbureted cars it was usually about 4-5 psi.

I have had my genny in the back of the truck and the fuel tank on the ground and have not had any problems. I have had two in parallel with one extended run tank set up the same way feeding both gennys and that worked alright as well.

I wouldn't worry about "stress" on the fuel pump. It's nothing fancy like a car or truck would have.

Just experiment with aux tank placement find out.

The little pump is an impulse type, working off (likely) crankcase pressure.

You had the gas tank HIGHER than the genny, which DECREASES the amount of power the fuel pump needs. The OP wants the gas tank LOWER than the genny, which RAISES the amount of power the fuel pump needs.
