ac going on and off

my roof ac will go on and off only with generator on and engine running have a confort zc thermostat that I have replaced also installed a chock kit on it have no light on the inside when this happens its inconsistent ac blower will run and shut down within 5 seconds and than cycle like that compressor never turn on reset thermostat by pulling fuse doesn't help again will only happen with engine running

thanks mister wizard I think your on the right track with high 12 volt current because this will happen more when I accelerate more than engine idling making the altenator charge more what is the cure for the problem can always wire in a stand alone 12 volt stand alone battery just for traveling when generator is on

you have a voltage problem on the 12v control circuits
generator on for A/C, converter is on and charging batteries
engine running alternator is also charging batteries
im guessing you have a higher voltage alternator than usual

try un-plugging the converter, flipping off the CB for the converter
this might reduce the 12v circuit voltage enough for things to operate normal
if not you need to look into this voltage situation
