Awning sag

I have a 19' awning on a 2013 fifth wheel. I have had several trailers over the years and this is the first with a longer awning. I noticed that on this awning, the fabric in the center of the awning sags considerably. The fabric by the awning rails is taut. It sags so much that the door hit the fabric with the awning rails fully extended. Is this normal? Are others experiencing this as well?

Is your awning a manual or electric awning.

Posting a picture of your awning and the sag you are seeing would help us give you a better answer.

IF your awning is not defective, than a simple solution is a center support bar such as this:

Note: I've only used a center support with a manual awning and don't know about their use with an electric awning. The electric awning (19', I think) on our new Winnebago has plenty of clearance over the door when fully extended. If your awning is electric, than it either needs adjusting (see the owners manual) or there is something wrong.

WE have an 18' awning and after 6 1/2 yrs it doesn't sag.

When extended one side is always slightly higher than other end so NO water can accumulate.

You NEW awning should not be sagging......talk to dealer about this 'defect'

The odds are the awning was open during the time it was at the dealer and water accumulated at times and stretched the fabric.The awning on a NEW fabric will be pretty taut. But, the awning will NOT be under warranty IF this is the reason. The Dealer will be responsible if this happened on his watch. Doug
