I did a search - and there's a host of answers.

the most common were 409 cleaner, Dawn dishwashing soap, Simple Green.

What's the most effective cleaner to remove all the crud from the condenser/eveaporator?

Thanks

Josh

Read the labels. Anything with petroleum in it can harm the roof.

Any box store will have aluminum-friendly condenser/evaporator cleaner.

Rinse with fresh water.

@OldWizard,won't the acid in the vinegar corrode the fins?

Thanks guys. I took the 5er back to night - almost done with my floor - but I know the AC unit needs a good cleaning!

That's next weekend.

Vinegar ! Spray it on, let it sit 10-15 minutes and hose it off.

Since you are dealing with thin aluminum parts that are holding high pressure, it would be best to use a product that won't promote corrosion.

An old toothbrush or something similar to scrub with (carefully) can also be helpful.

Never cleaned mine because have only ever ran it maybe 5 times in the last 16 years. But I would just use plain water from the garden hose. All you're cleaning off is dust and dirt. There's no oil or other adhesives on there to require an actual cleaning agent other than water.
