Burnt out light bulb ?

Has anyone ever changed the light bulb in a Apollo Microwave/Convection oven?

Can I do it or does it need a high priced technician?

You know it's time to clean the microwave when you start hearing tiny high pitched screams every time you turn it on...

To hell with changing light bulbs in microwave ovens...

I soldered in a 3-amp 1,000 PIV diode

Which cuts lamp brightness a bit but will increase lifespan to decades.

Other bulbs of that fit are brighter but I didn't bother.

I've changed the bulb in an Apollo AAC24 half time oven. The oven has to come out, and its case has to come off. Stupid design. My Panasonic microwave at home is the same, except it's just sitting on the countertop. When my Apollo bulb went out I ignored it. It was only when there was a control board failure that I pulled it out and did the bulb at the same time.

How many rv.net posters does it take to change a light bulb?

Find the exact model # and Google it with the words "replace light bulb". More than likely someone has posted a Youtube video or written detailed instructions on how to do it.

Our home microwave had an issue where when we closed the door it wouldn't cook. The solution was to bend a piece of metal inside where the door switch was attached. A common issue with this particular microwave. Two different independent repair shops posted Youtube videos on how to fix it.

How would that eliminate a parasitic load. :h

that is something I learned here in a thread on replacing tail light bulbs. ๐Ÿ™‚

If you try this yourself, be sure to discharge the capacitors or you may be in for a nasty shock if you accidentally touch the wrong wires.

why bother? I can't really see what is happening thru that front glass anyhow. and mine have all chimed when time is up.

I agree I'd not switch to LED.. You should be able to do it yourself. however one word of caution.

There are two ways the lights are repalced. One you simply remove a cover INSIDE the Oven and you can access the bulb (Actually 3 ways now that I think of it)

3rd way is a access cover OUTSIDE the oven

2nd and I think this is most common you have to remove the outer housing. IF yours is like this be careful of SHARP EDGES on some of the internal metal parts.

Manual said requires an authorized service tech. That usually means it was designed by an engineer without common sense, meaning that you have to pull the case off.

Probably an easy task, but I do this kind of work daily.

Hopefully it uses common components, but you may have to order some exotic bulb that the same engineer designed into it.

Still a lot cheaper than taking it to a repair shop.

they always say that don't they? was in the service section of the manual. usually they are only accessible by taking the outside cover off. i have never looked at that brand though.

I don't think it is a good idea to put a plastic LED in a convection oven. :W
