Charging a maintenance free battery

I acquired a 12V maintenance free battery for free.
I do not plan to use it in my TT.

I do plan to use it to run an old RV FW pump. I am a home brewer, and I use the old pump to pump ice water through a chiller to cool down the wort.
This takes 15 to 30 minutes usually.

Currently I pull my truck up to the garage and hook to my truck battery to run the pump. Now I would like to use this battery.

I tested the battery and its at 10.5V.
What are the chances this battery will recharge and be able to run the pump?

Worst case I use that battery as a core return for a new one for my TT and use the old TT battery for this. The TT battery is 4 years old.

Thanks

Or include the battery in the circuit to keep the voltage in spec, depending on the charger. Still would not hurt to charge the battery either way to see if is is useable or scrap.

I know difference between Philadelphia and Manhattan. Thus the "eyeroll"..
I just wanted to be a smart___ too.
I can't stand it when someone asks a question and someone has to be that way.
People ask because they don't know.
Their answer was great without the Manhattan Project reference.

Thanks for the legitimate advice.
BFL13 I never even considered using the charger to run the pump.

Some confusion between Philadelphia (invisible ship) and Manhattan (A-Bomb) it seems. At least they are talking about the same war. ๐Ÿ™‚

On that 12v pump, since you need a 12v battery charger (10amp or so?)to recharge that battery, if it will, why not just strap the charger to the pump for half an hour as required? If that works, no need for the battery as middle man.

The manhattan project built the first atomic bomb. Charge it up and try.

If it HOLDS the 10.5 without getting even flatter, AND it has not had the plates exposed (unlikely with a maintenance free battery) the chances are good it will stand up for a little while. Generally though, starting batteries do not like to be deeply discharged so probably will NOT hold up to more than a FEW deep discharges even if it does hold a charge. Best way to find out is put it on a charger and see how it does. If it doesn't do well DEMAND what you paid for it be returned. ๐Ÿ™‚

What do you mean: "Manhattan Project" :h

I'm just wanting to run an old RV freshwater pump for 30 minutes off an old battery, not make a warship disappear. :R
