Different models of Yamaha 2400 inverter generator?

Good morning all, is there or have there been different sub-models of the Yamaha 2400 inverter generator?
On the Yamaha site it only shows the one model which is set up for higher starting currents (for AC unit). Which tells me all they have is the one now, but in the earlier years did they have a model that did not have the high starting current capacities.
The reason i am asking is I see a used one in the local classifieds but it mentions it the model as 2400i, no "SHC" mentioned in the ad.

I have the 2400is model.

Allow me to say it has been an extremely trouble free jenny and literally saved my bacon when we endured a 4 day power outage at our stick house. It powered 2 refrigerators and a freezer. But, it does need to be re-jetted if you run it at altitudes of 5000 ft.

I found this out the hard way when camped for a week in Rocky Mt NP at an altitude of about 7000 ft. By the 5th day the exhaust spark arrestor was so carbon fouled it would barely idle. I have since bought a variety of carb jet sizess and install the appropriate one dependent on the altitude it will be running at. Installation takes about 20 minutes and can be done with common tools.

Other than that, this model of generator has been bullet proof for me and powers the microwave and coffee maker simultaneously along with keeping the batteries charged up. It did power the 13.5 K AC on my previous RV (with no other power draws), but I have not had to use it to do so on my current 5W.

So if I can get ahold of the fella that I will have to ensure it is the "SHC" model. Thanks folks!

The model I have is the Yamaha 2400IS which is the older model. I have had this generator for about 8-10 years. This model was parallel capable and has the sockets for a special paralleling cable to be connected.

A few years ago, approximately 5, Yamaha came out with the 2400ISHC which has a little more surge capacity but does not have the parallel cable potential. Why I am not sure.

To my knowledge, these are the only two sub models of the Yamaha 2400 generator.

My generator, the 2400IS will run a 13500 ac most of the time but I have had incidents where it would not restart the ac compressor after it had been run awhile. Many of the users complained it would not start their ac at higher elevations also. I think the 2400ISHC was designed to correct this problem.

I've seen some 2400s doing decent duty where I dry camp. However, they are running smaller (5000-11000kBTU) air conditioners.

I believe, at one time the 2400 was parallel capable. That is no longer the case. But, I wish it was......

Yes they did have two versions of 2400. The 2400ishc model has a higher surge capacity. I have the 2400ishc and it will start a 13.5k air conditioner if everything else is turned off.
