Dometic DM2852

I am running out of options trying to fix our Dometic 2852 fridge.

The problem is that it tries to run on propane when it is plugged in.

First I checked power all the way to the board, meter is reading 119v going into the lower control board.

Next I tested the element out, it tested 0v, so the board is not trying to run the element.

I removed the board and tested each circuit, every thing seems ok, there was continuity where I expected it to be.

I replaced the board with a brand new one from Dometic.

SAME - EXACT - PROBLEM

So I am starting to get stuck on troubleshooting.

I tested the element (even though it is getting no power) the result was 41 ohm, expected is 40 ohm, within range.

I am having a hard time accepting that I now have two faulty boards here, with the exact same problem, one is brand new (not saying it would be impossible)....

Does anyone know what to do next? I could take it into service, I just haven't been happy with the work at the RV dealer.

This doesn't make sense, AC + DC power into board, no AC power out.

EDIT: This is with the setting in AUTO, and AUTO is my only option to run on AC power.

Also, everything works perfectly on propane.

After replacing both the eyebrow and the lower control board, everything is working again. --I forgot to update back when I fixed, then left on a two week trip seeking sand and sun--

Thank you to everyone that help me shine light on this about the eyebrow board.

I ordered one on Amazon and should have it Wednesday. I will update once it is installed for anyone who is curious.

This is your issue.

Either the upper eyebrow board
OR
Harness from lower to upper board (P1 connector to Display)
Is it time for your medication or mine?

I will certainly try that. I think you are suggesting bypassing the setting on the upper board that selects AUTO/GAS and jumping to just AUTO manually?

It will be tomorrow morning before I can test when I get home. I will note that it does switch on the AUTO LED light when the switch is in AUTO currently, but the indicator could be dumb to what is actually being signaled. I will report once I try.

Thanks!

I did check all the way to both sides of the AC fuse on the board. I came real close to ordering the dinosaur board. I kinda regret not getting it now.

BFL13 - Auto should run on AC any time AC is detected.

Yes, but I wondered if having no gas as an option would somehow make it go to 120 when it won't now.

Can you get behind the selector switch and jumper the AC option to see if that works? (Before buying the fridge a whole new brain if it just the switch) Maybe the switch is stuck in the Gas position behind it, never mind what you do with the front.

Just thinking of unlikely things you might not have tried yet.

In "Auto" will it run on AC when the propane to the fridge is shut off?

Could the auto/gas selector switch be broken, so it stays on gas?

Have you checked AC voltage at the pins on the board? Its altogether possible you have a bad connector either at the AC input or output connections.
BTW Dinosaur boards are much bettet than OE stuff at lower cost. If your still stuck on Monday give them a call. They have proven to be helpful to others.
