Door Hinge how do I measure?

I'm stuck on a problem here...One hinge on bathroom door creaks bad when you open it. Noticed bottom is tweaked out just a bit. I'm trying to get another hinge. Tried Lowes and Home Depot and Ace, no luck.

Did see two different one in a RV parts book.

One says... 3" non-mortised hinge.

The other one says... Non-mortised mount hinge.

Both hinges in part book look like what I have. So I got out my tape measure. Mine is not 3" wide and is over 3" long.

So my question is...

How does one measure a hinge so I order the right one?

Thanks

I'd remove and straighten the hinge. Then I would install the top three screws into the existing holes at the frame and door edge. The bottom hole into the door edge may no longer be properly aligned and will need to be filled and re-drilled for the bottom screw. I would glue a match stick or sticks into the hole before drilling.

OK thanks, match as wood filler, now I get it.

For some reason I was thinking to use match as a pry bar, to bend back into place, without removing hinge. Wooden match looks to be just right fit.

I'll bet that once you straighten the hinge that the screw holes will not line up, that's why the hingh is bent. Put a wooden match stick in the door jamb hole then make a new hole centered on the hinge hole.

Yep, it might take that.

Thanks for idea.

"door jam hole"? not sure where that is? Should I put match stick, so when I close door, the bent part of hinge will bend it the other way?

Pangaea Ron took the words out of my mouth. I can see where, if removed, you can gently straighten the hinge pin where its bent.

Your's is a 3 1/2" Non-mortised hinge--Flat tipped

3 1/2" overall length

Non-mortised----surface mounted onto door/frame vs cut out area for a flush mount

Used alot on bi-fold doors and narrow shutters

Have you tried WD-40 or better, a dry silicone lubricant? Lots cheaper, and a lot easier also. Also, from picture, you might try losening the screw on the bottom and let it readjust itself. looks like the hinge pin may be bent, and out of line. Loosen it a bit, tap on the lower side gently to realine, and tighten back. Might help.
