door jam switches

we have an 1999 FL-60, Sport Chassis and I am having problems with the door jam switches but don't know how to remove them, anyone have any advice on removal and replacement parts

Dumb question, but you're sure a switch isn't just turned on, like the gauge dimmer switch?

the good thing is all the wires are numbered, the bad thing is I don't have a diagram

Old style was to feed the dome light a hot lead, and have the door switches be grounds, so it could be a short somewhere.

UPDATE; I took a chance and pried on the switches, and they popped right out, the problem I am trying to solve is the dome lights stay on all the time so needless to say the bulbs have been removed, here's what i found, I have power on both sides of the door switch, after removing the return wire I found all 4 switches work as they need to, the dome lights themselves have a switch on them and I am receiving power on both wires, wish I could find a one line drawing for the door switches and dome lights, thanks everyone

let me add an update, the switch in question, operates the dome light and alarm, posting pictures on this site has always been difficult for me, there are no signs of either a rivet or screw holding it to the door "jamb" so tomorrow I will take the kick panel off and get a look in there for how it mounts, and if possible check continuity and action of the switches (4 of them )

When you saw switches are you referring to the door lock mechanism?

First of all if you are having problems with the door jams that is the first symptom of the next thing you being locked out or in.

What brand door locks do you have?

Drown it in W-D first. But if its for sure junk, then a screwdriver and hammer will get it out 🙂

Possibly there's a nut or other fastener on the back side holding them in? A picture would be helpful here.

(By the way, it's a door jamb; a door jam is when the door gets stuck and won't open.)

If they have a visible hex then they are threaded in. Most likely you will need to rwmove the kick panel to access the wire from behind.

Wow, many different types, but if no visable screws or hex, seems like they would just snap in.
