Guys, a friend of ours died recently and has a Yahama 2000 generator that is very lightly used and about four years old. Went over yesterday and it started with about three pulls after sitting for two years. It ran great but the widow wants to sell it and was wondering what kind of price would be appropriate. Any help would be much appreciated.

Good Luck with that. I can buy a brand new Champion for that price.

I can buy a brand new YAMAHA Blue 2000 watt inverter generator on Amazon for $603.48 U.S. dlls. today. (free shipping)

At half current retail price (new) you'll know very quickly if it's going to sell or not. Good luck.

That's probably a Yamaha-POWERED generator, not a actual Yamaha generator.
Sounds like the Ai-power 2000w inverter generator that Costco sells.
So many people see Yamaha, in small letters, and think it's a true Yamaha. I've lost count of how many think it's a Yamaha generator.

Do you have a pic of this $600 generator or a link?

The OP never stated which genny they actually had either. Others have posted links but here they are again.

(I wish I knew how to make a clicky)

In any event, whatever the OP has, for a private party sale, half the new retail price for a 4 year old working genny in otherwise good condition, IMO, is a reasonable starting point. (unless for some reason you are the only game in town with a captive audience)

Sold my 10 year old Yamaha 2800 I for 300 bucks less than I paid for it new. Bought an equal wattage Champion new and took the wife to dinner at an expensive eatery with the difference.

Paid 1300 from Generators Direct, sold for a grand in 2 days.

Looks like they go for around $900 new. I'd be happy to get $500 used, probably wouldnt take less than $450.
Advertise for $600 and see what offers you get.

Here are a couple of links for real Yamaha ef2000is generators. Anything selling new for under $850 is likely a blue color generator with a Yamaha engine that the seller wants you to think is the real Yamaha product.

That's an A-I Power version not the real Yamaha.

Show me the REAL Yamaha 2000 inverter for $603, and I will buy one. (it must have a Yamaha name on it)

We are not talking Champion here... this is about Yamaha.

I do have three Champions though and like them alot.

I think someone should point out that there are blue variants of generators out there that have a 79cc Chinese Yamaha motor in them but are not actual Yamaha Brand Generators...Why Yamaha does this is truly kinda baffling to me...

FWIW, not a direct comparison maybe but the Honda 2000 had a 98cc motor, and the new 2200 has 125cc...
