Finding and labeling tv wires?

I have had problems with my OTA antenna picking up signals for stations. I just replaced the old 2001 antenna with a Winegard Sensar IV antenna. I am now installing a new signal locater inside and running into problems figuring out which coax is from what source. I guess I need a coax tester to find out? I have a front tv, a bedroom tv, a tv in a basement bin outside. I use a dish tailgater satellite for tv in front. I know behind the front tv there are at least 7-8 splitters with all kind of wiring coming and going.

Do yo just track one wire at a time , get a signal and mark each one, then hook them up accordingly? Very confusing mess to sort through!

You can also get a very handy 8-Way Coax Tester and make short work of it.

Yes, sort them out one at a time.
In addition to above you can short them out and measure with an OHM meter.

I have simply connected wires from a 9v battery ( or any battery) to the cable and measured the other ends to find which was which.
