Yes I know get a Honda, but I inherited a kingcraft from my Dad. 2000 watt. I can only get it to run about 200 watts, its a 2000 watt genny. Motor runs great, using a kilowatt when increasing usage, it just shuts off. any ideas besides throwing it away. I would onkly use it to charge batteries while hunting mainly. thankyou

OP, stay away from these cheap open-frame contractor-style generators IF you're planning on using it in a campground. They are too loud and will exceed campground noise rules.
If it's only for other types of usage, then go for it.
I have a Champion 3500w/4000w open-frame contractor-style generator that I use for home backup power. But NEVER in a campground.

Check and see if it uses s large capacitor or a U shaped voltage regulator.

Either one is CHEAP and easy to fix.

About the only things I can think of woulf be the avr (automatic voltage regulator) or a circuit breaker.
Possibly carbon brushs.
Anything more than that would probably not be a cost effective repair.
I have seen Champion 1800w units at tractor supply for under $200.
