Honda EU 2000 fuel shut off not working

I installed a separate engine cut off switch on my two EU2000's. One works fine as it should and runs out of gas in about 2 minutes. The other one will not run out of fuel and die. The kill switch works fine. Could there be a wire from the Honda's switch that has become disconnected or any thing else I'm not aware of. Any suggestions?

Thanks Kent I will try that. At least it's a start.

Langbone.
Pull the fuel line off going to the carb with the fuel shut off closed, if the line is dripping gas you know that you have a bad shut off valve.

The switch I installed is installed correctly, it works as intended. Switch on generator is not cutting fuel to carb like it is supposed to. The run/ off switch on the generator is supposed to to kill both the spark and turn off the fuel when turned to off. What I have done is create a separate kill switch. Thus allowing me to run the generator while the run/off switch is in the off position which is supposed to cut off the fuel, allowing me to run the generator till the carburetor runs dry. I have googled the internet, tried the Honda forums, and aside from Corvette Kent telling me I have a leaky fuel valve ( which is a possibility) I still don't know why this is happening.

Can you provide a wiring diagram on how you installed your switch? Guessing is a big waste of time...

I don't know. Try google, youtube, or take it in for service.

Not trying to be a smart a-- here, but it really doesn't matter why I have installed the switch. My question is why does the Generator run/off switch not cut off the fuel like it is supposed to?

Ok. Is this so that you can leave fuel in the tank? I find that the drain valve on the carb works pretty well.

+1, and it takes way less time than waiting for the carb to run dry.
Doing this will also let you know for sure if your shutoff is leaking.

If it runs out of fuel and shuts down,, why kill the engine,,its already dead? Also,, last I checked, the engine does not make spark until it is spinning. If it is out of fuel it won't spin so what are you killing??

Even if you left the "Kill" switch in the "On" position it won't hurt it or run a battery down!

Sounds like your fuel shut off valve is leaking.

First, why did you install a switch? Supposedly the big ON switch is a fuel cutoff when turned completely OFF.
