Honda eu3000is - Output Voltage 127V

I have a new Honda Inverter eu3000is generator and noticed that when we use it, the UPS we have connected to it doesn't like the honda's output voltage and won't switch off battery.

I measured the Honda output, and its 127volts which seems a bit high for a "load voltage". It appears the voltage doesn't change much between no load and load.

I would have figured the honda inverter generator would have a nice clean regulated 120v output.

Does anyone know if this generator should be outputting this voltage?

This may come as a surprise but rv.net is a PUBLIC FORUM, meaning that although responses may be directed at the OP or another respondent ANYONE can read these discussions and benefit from whatever may be learned. Of course one can build a DIY bonding plug but the point is that commercially manufactured versions are also available for those who would prefer it, for whatever reason.

That's true... Another option

How ever ! If the OP has an oscilloscope and the ability to use it
I think they can handle building a bonding plug

I think they mentioned the possibility of putting a scope on the output to look at it
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

Sure, I built my own as well but the ready made Progressive G-N bonding plug is simply another option that others may prefer, regardless of what you think of it. :R

OR just buy one ready made, such as this G-N Bonding Plug from Progressive Industries.

Simple way is a 110v single male plug
Buy a new one at the hardware store
Install a a small jumper wire inside the plug connect the neutral wire screw to the green ground screw
Plug the plug into the duplex outlet on the Honda

Is there anywhere appropriate on the eu3000 I can bond the neutral and ground, or should I do it via a pair of L5-30 (create a short extension)?

Exactly ... no different than feeding a floating neutral output from any Honda EU series genset to any EMS with open ground detection which interprets that floating neutral as an open ground. G-N bonding the genset output will solve the problem.

The answer would seem to be on page 14 of the user manual:

From the specs for this UPS: "Input voltage range for mains operation: 90-150V". This is a double-conversion UPS, so the output inverter is running all the time, even when it's powered from the mains power. The generator output voltage is not the source of the difficulties unless the specifications are completely wrong.

Specs for this UPS indicate a +/- 5Hz auto sensing input frequency variance ... there's NO way your EU3000iS is outputting voltage with anywhere near this degree of frequency error, if any at all. This is a floating neutral / G-N bonding issue.

Your trailer will accept the floating neutral output from any of these inverters gensets just fine BUT anyone who uses a surge protector / EMS with open ground detection will find it won't pass the signal because it interprets the floating neutral as an open ground. I owned an earlier version TRC EMS that did not have open ground detection and it would pass the signal just fine, current versions do have open ground detection, as do all current Progressive Industries models, and will not pass the signal unless the genset output is G-N bonded.
