Hybrid Inverter

I am considering getting one of these, Magnum Hybrid 3000w which is more wattage than I really was looking at but the 3000w is the smallest size and about $1000 more. Would it be worth it considering that's is higher dollars up front.

The Magnum wins by weight. Check the pricing for added battery temp compensation. The Victron adds $275 for that feature. The Freedom 458 in 2500W flavor does most of what the Magnum does and is considerably cheaper, includes temp compensation.

Outback also has the gfx series, which is hybrid capable, and under $1k for the inverter. It also has a HBX (high battery exchange mode), a grid-tie sell back mode, and generator support.

See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOLAIRe9J3Q for one in operation.

FWIW, the Xantrex SW series Freedom inverters have that capability as well, generator support, stacking for either double surrent or 240 volt operation, etc.

90 percent efficiency on such expensive unit doesn't look good.
55lb ... I guess comparing to 600lb battery bank that is not much .

I have the hybrid inverter in my build for a Transit van, as well as something I plan to retrofit a class "C" if I go that route.

The coolest thing about the inverter is that it handles the locked rotor amps of an A/C start, which is useful if one has a smaller rig and a generator that can handle the steady current, but would choke on the A/C starting. Of course, the fact that it cures undervoltages, especially when combined with the control panel and a generator controller is a nice thing as well.

Oh wait you might need the remote panel for $575 also.

Get the Magnum Energy 3000 hybrid for $1575 http://www.imarineusa.com/magnumenergymsh3012m.aspx

The controller for $180 http://www.imarineusa.com/magnumenergyme-arc50advancedremotecontrol.aspx

Then there is left over $$ for auto gen start and battery monitor

Thanks I just started shopping.

Sure going to need a bunch of battery power to run that thing... I can get around 5-6 hours out of my 20AMP Power inverter drain running 255Ah Battery capacity... I imagine that unit will draw around 275AMPS DC Current...

About the best there is, hard to go wrong there. I think pianotuna has something like this.
