In motion satelite question

How long should it take to find the satelites and is it normal for the Winguard Inmotion system to be noisey when doing so? ( toggles have been set to appropriate system)

Once the dish locks onto the satellite you can simply turn the switch off. Will not make any noise after that. You would leave the switch on if it was an in-motion & you where driving down the road.

As suggested above get the make/model off the tag after you remove the dome.

If original dome(14 years old) it may just be obsolete and not worth fixing. I would get the Model and S/n of the dome, call Winegard with that info and see what they say. Doug

RV is a Minnie Winnie 2002, receiver is Directv and the toggles on the dish have been switched ( coach came with DISH

All in motion systems make noise- they are always moving, unless you put it to sleep. The way the in motion component works is that the dish moves in small circles constantly. If the signal is stronger in one quadrant, the whole thing shifts that way- so both elevation and azimuth motors are in motion continuously.

You do not know the year and model of your RV:) Yes, I was not clear on that. You will need to go on top and remove the dome cover. There will be a sticker inside that will give model and s/n of the dome. Also, Dish or Direct Sat service? Doug

The sat came with the used coach. I know it is a couple of years old. No clue as to year or model. It did not time out as I was afraid od damaging the unit. The noise freaked me out a bit

If no signal found it will time out after 10 minutes or so. It would help if the OP stated what Year/Model Winegard he has. They have changed the operation parameters in the past 1 to 2 years. Doug

Assuming you have a clear view of the southern sky, 5 minutes or so; and yes, it can be very noisy, especially inside the coach. If no clear view of the southern sky it will seek forever. I did have the set screw come loose on mine once where the antenna motor connects to the mast screw - since the antenna wasn't actually moving it went into perpetual seek mode. Tightening the antenna set screw fixed it.
