Kitchen stove vent that operates from inside?

Does anyone know of a range hood vent flap that can be opened and closed from inside?

And retro to an existing hood?

Why do I ask?

- mine is 8 ft up the side wall to reach
- it flaps in the wind when left unlatched
- it’s drafty when left unlatched when it’s windy
- I don’t want to run outside, find the poker and unlatch it each time I want to use the stovetop.

Thanks

Ok there is one let me see if I can find the name. Alas I do not see a name but it is over my Wedgwood in my Damon INtruder It looks like a Ventline but teh ventline is a 'Damperless' Design and mine has a built in damper which is latched. or unlatched from INSIDE the RV.

I think it is a ventline. but you may have to go direct to them to find the model. WIll look one more time.

Ah got lucky Ventline P series.. You will be on your own from here. But as I said. I HAVE ONE.. What I don't have is the owner's manual.. Yet.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Fabulous Operating Products - the folks who originally made the Fantastic vents - sell an upgrade kit that replaces the fan with a much quieter 3 speed version and the vent is operated from the inside. It is a bit of work to do the installation though.

Ours had two flaps: A plastic POS on the outside that had to be released manually and a metal flap built into the microwave. When the plastic one broke, I replaced it with a vent cover that had no flap (just horizontal slots) and I glued a piece of screen to the back side of the cover. Now I no longer have to open/close a flap that is 8' off the ground; however, the metal flap still makes noise in a strong breeze. Maybe someday I'll add the magnet to it as suggested in an earlier post.

Here’s the mod I did to ours, for exactly the same reasons you list. Scroll below the waterpump switch mod.

Years ago, Jensen made a cable vent system. But, it was too easy to break or kink the cable and they dropped them from the market. So, I am not aware of any Range vent maker that has an inside release system. The magnet seems to be the way to go. Doug

Attach a rare earth magnet to the outside of the flap and a washer on the inside of the flap housing. It will stay shut until you turn the fan on.

This has worked for years on mine.
