refrigerator woes

Have a Fleetwood 07 expedition. In 2010 had to have major repair on my Norcold refrigerator as coolant went out ($2300) but not listed under recall units. 6 mos. later enroute to FL the refrigerator was out from wall, whole slide away from wall by 2 inches. Made emergency stop to CW in Jacksonville where $600 later had to have unit attached to wall. Repair teck said original repair had not attached properly?? Refrigerator has never kept ice cream frozen, earler this year had to again seek repairman as refrigerator not cooling below 40 degrees. He put a fan in outside back, also replaced control board. Now refrigerator cooling although ice cream still not an option. Cost $520. NOW again refrigerator loose from wall unit, stove & counter also 2" from wall......again at CW in Winchester VA enroute home. Ready to shoot holes but won't solve problem. Any helpful advise appreciated. Refrigerator is 4-door w/ice maker if that should make a difference.......HELP!

Even if you dry camp from time to time you can still install (and I recommend) a residential fridge. You will need an appropriate inverter in all cases but you may need to add some additional battery capacity if you plan to park without power for an extended period. Solar can make up the loss or running the generator a couple hours a day can do the same thing.

Your refer IS a recall unit. But that is a safety recall with a temp control board added. When you state refer slid out 2 inches. You mean the COMPLETE refer slid out of the wood cabinet to the inside? Or the Cooling Unit came loose from the back side? IF the refer (complete refer) slid out of the wood cabinet, I do not understand why it took so much to remount it. There are screws at the outside rear thru the bottom plate and 8 screws inside (4 top and 4 bottom) that keep refer in wood cabinet. IF the CU came loose that is also strange as there are 12 screws in the freezer back plate that hold the cooling unit to the refer cabinet and the lower outside unit is screwed to the back wall of the refer cabinet. Ice Cream rarely gets hard in a RV refer. The lowest temp usually in a RV refer in the freezer is 0 to 5 degrees and Ice Cream needs to be at least below 0 degrees to get hard. If not cooling correctly after a CU change, then the odds are they did not install enough Thermal Mastic when they replaced the CU. Doug

Yep thats what we did. We are very happy with our small fridge. Just know you will always have to be camped with hook ups.
