I might know the answer but this is only my third time out ... So I'm no pro! I usually keep the camper plugged in with some cold water in it. Usually no problem. In the morning before we left I filled it with stuff, unplugged the camper, and made sure propane was turned on. Get to campground and stuff is pretty warm. I was out of propane in the bottle. Water heater must've wiped it out on our last trip. I plug into shore power and make sure power is going to fridge. While later stuff still warm and I metered receptacle. Power good. It's warm in back of fridge. Steaks we moved to freezer are frozen. Does the fridge just not have the gumption to recover?

Lesson learned I guess. I only had to toss some milk. It may have been ok but why risk it. Part of me is kind of disappointed in it. Thought about a similar size conventional fridge but having the ability to use it with propane will probably come in handy. Thanks for the replies!

For best results, only put pre cooled food stuffs in the fridge and pre frozen stuffs in the freezer. Most RV fridges are designed to "keep" things cold, not to "cool them down to cold" except after a very long time.

Fridge didn't get pre-cooled.......ran out of propane....and stuff got warm

Now you are trying to cool down fridge and the warm stuff in it.

Freezer cold enough to freeze stuff so fridge is working.
Freezer has to get cold first then fridge section will cool down.

Takes several hours to achieve proper cooling temps in fridge section especially when it has warm stuff in it (not pre-cooled prior to placing in fridge).
Is it time for your medication or mine?

The fridge takes a while to cool, especially on electric power. By a while I am thinking several hours.
