Slide out adjustment

I have a Forest River Flagstaff V-Lite trailer. We have been traveling several thousand miles over our nations rough highways. I think the rough roads have knocked my slide out out of adjustment. When I pull it in the floor of the slide is a couple of inches above the floor of the trailer. I measured the outside wall with it extended. The top is 38 inches. The bottom is 39 1/4 inches. To me it would seem the box should be adjusted up to push the floor down when it is in. I am not sure which bolts to loosen to make the adjustment. There is a screw to raise or lower the box. I would appear to me I would have to loosen the two bolts above it to make the adjustment. Anyone have any experience with this? I am attaching a couple of photos to help you see what I am saying.

keep us informed. I just replaced a rack gear on mine, tracking down the problem can take some time.

This is not normal for my trailer. It just did this a week ago. It always came in flat to the floor in the past. Now you can trip over it. It sticks up about 1 to 1 1/2 inches. Something is worn or out of adjustment.

The room comes in tight against the seals and they are tight when it is out. The measurements I gave is for both sides of the slide when extended. I can't see where anything has slipped out of adjustment so maybe something is broken or worn in the floor. The box is square in the hole as far as I can tell. When the room is extended the floor is flush. I just never had this raise up like this before. The nylon sliders under the floor have some scuff marks on them like something is rubbing. It looks to me if the box is tipped up more the floor would be flush again. When the slide is in, the top is out 1 1/2 inches from a wall while the bottom is out 3/4 inch from the wall. That looks to be greater than it was in the past.

I guess I will have to take it to the "experts" and that scares the heck out of me. Sometimes those guys make new problems.

Your raised floor sounds normal to me. Mine lifts, moves inward, then the outside top seals and the inside bottom lifts as the slide continues inward to seal at the bottom. Does the slide seal all the way around in both positions? First rule of troubleshooting " If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

As for you measurements with the slide extended I would ask: Is the ground level compared to the trailer? I would check the ground, trailer frame and the slide out level in respect to each other. If in fact the room is off kilter, I would be checking for the cause. You could have a roller problem in the tubes.

I can see no indication that the unit has slipped from your pics. I would check for marks at the end of each arm to see if anything has moved.

If your determined to adjust it the nut on the far right side of the bottom pic would need to be loosened. Then loosen the jam nut on the long bolt extending downward beneath it. Use this long bolt to raise or lower the room. I would use a jack to relieve the pressure on the bolt's threads. Move the bolt the amount of difference and tighten it all back up and recheck your measurements.

What you describe is normal. The slides are designed to hit the side wall frame at the top first with the bottom continuing in till it is completely seated. Once in gravity keeps the slide from tilting out as you travel. If a slide transit locking bar is used at the top this further prevents the top from going outward.

The adjustments you picture are for keeping the slide square in the hole and to provide sufficient top clearance when retracted.
