Sodium Ion battery

Hi all,

Sodium ion batteries are starting to appear.

They can be used from -70 to 100 C (-94 to 212 f) https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35044037/

Sodium is dirt cheap compared to Li.

Right now the sodium ions are pricey...

they have been in development since 2009 ish, maybe before then nd are being used in Japan and other places but have some issues that make them pretty much un usable for us.

FWIW (on a lighter note!), when my boy was just a youngโ€™ien we once made a battery out of a Lemon, a nickel and a copper pennyโ€ฆWe never evaluated it in cold weather (or for itโ€™s Peukert), but as I recall, itโ€™s voltage curve faded fairly fast, and shortly thereafter it succumbed to a Low voltage disconnect - lolโ€ฆ:)

The LBMS kicked in and shut it down. :B

Thanks for the post Don, I'd like to see a good cold weather battery for -70F. I looked at your attachment, but way too complicated for my little mind. I'll wait for others to decipher it.
