Starcraft 21 sso hybrid slide question

Does the battery have to be hooked up for the slide to work?
I had the camper hooked up to house plug but the slide would not work.
Fuse is good.

I previously owned a 2004 StarCraft 21SSO HTT. And yes, the battery does have to be hooked up and charged. However, you should have a hand crank tool that will allow you to open the slide without power. The tool is inserted right below the dinette on the inside of the HTT.

Slide motors are 12v DC (as far as I know)
Without a battery, the only 12v you have is coming from the converter.
If the slide motor doesn't draw any more than the capacity of the converter, then it will work. Otherwise it seems you are good for blowing a 12v fuse, or frying the converter.
I would not do it no matter what?

Some do, some don't. My current Coachmen Freedom Express 192RBS has a shallow sofa slide that does operate with the trailer plugged into shore power regardless of whether the trailer battery is connected or not. Look in your owner's manual for the correct answer applying to your particular trailer.

you didn't post what year the trailer is. some older models do need a battery, even when plugged into shore power.

does everything else 12v work without shore power?
if so, you may have blown the slide fuse, which is usually located underneath the slideout. usually is a 30 amp on most hybrids.
