This is a frig Issue I suspect Electrical Problem

Last fall the outside recepticle and bathroom recepticle were dead and GFI tripped. Diconnected outside plug. GFI tripped. Replaced GFI, it tripped. Removed gfi, outside plug tests correct, no more bathroom recepticle.

Now the problem. Norcold frig won't start on gas. However, when I start generator it will start on gas. When I shut down the generator, in 5 seconds the check gas light lights.

Same applies with shore power. It runs on gas or AC.

How should I proceed. Getting ready for big trip off grid and need it to run on DC.

Any chance the humidity switch for the fridge is on (if it has one)? They use about .9 amps continuously and are a very sneaky draw!

And...yes it was. Thank you.

Won't trust it. I have already upgraded and replaced. This one will be charged. If it holds a charge I'll put it in the bullpen, short relief.

Good call. One does not BUY a battery, one seems to just rent them.

When id doubt, throw em out. Batteries cause some many devious problems so starting with a fresh battery and shiny clean connections is a good move.

Just a note that flipping a breaker wont have any effect on a 12v phantom draw.

Point taken. I'll disconnect at the battery.

Make sure you have good 12volt power on the house battery which runs the controll board for the refrig. Your converter is providing 12 volt when hooked to gen or ground power. So you could have a bad or dead battery.

You are correct sir. Thank you.

I love you guys. Bettery tests 9.8 V. Hooked up the battery charger and lp in running the refrigerator. I got 12.8 off the inverter not house supply. Obviously a run down battery. Two year old battery, recently charged. Must have fantom draw somewhere. Another project. I guess I just flip the breakers between trips til then. Thanks again for the help. Pete

Then you likely have a bad control board. Call Dinosaur boards in Oregon and desceibe symptoms to them.

DC at the terminals tests 12.8 volts and the exhaust fan for the frig chimney I installed runs fine, just down stream of the terminals. What next please?

Yes, the refrigerator PC board runs on 12 VDC. Doesn't matter if you are trying to run on propane or 120 VAC.

Suspect with the generator running the converter is providing the 12 VDC.

So, start by verifying 12 VDC to the back/outside of the refrigerator.

No 12VDC to the refer. Possibly a bad conteol board. But start by checking the fuse that feeds refer, then check for 12VDC at the control board.
