Thats the one I usually reference, but they all draw off the same database

I have not found it to be innaccurate, But with web pages (not Antenna Helper) I have had them give me the vector to the STUDIO instead of the Transmitter.

Now in some cases (IE: Channels 2 and 7 in Detroit) the difference is measured with a yard stick, and not many of them (like 50 yards) but in other cases (Channel 41 Battle Creek or Chan 3 Kalamazoo.. Closer to 40 miles.

But then on all the above I have been to the transmitter sites (Well close enough, in some cases in the site parking lot).

From what I can tell, Antenna Helper is giving me Tower sites, not studio sites.
The FCC database references transmitter coordinates, not the studio that is only shown as a control point, or city of license.

As for coverages, the patterns shown are theoritical radiation patterns of the antenna, and they are quite accurate. They obviously don't take into consideration obstructions like trees, buildings, entire cities if you're down wind, weather, etc. The CALCULATED results are dead on. In the real world there are other programs that take all that other stuff into account, but it's not a factor in issuing a license.

Is TV Towers iPhone or Android?
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

I have 2 ways to find.... The first is I saved DTV.gov on my main screen... I just open it , type in my zip and it will show me all the towers.... The other is an app I purchased called TV Towers... It was $1.99 .... I will compare them later this week when dry camping in Richmond........

It is inaccurate as to what channels you should expect to receive. That's simply a fact which I proven again and again as I travel around the Western US. That's not a bad thing as it does still show where the tower(s) are located and you can use that to point the antenna and let the TV determine how many channels are received. In nearly all cases I receive many more channels than are listed by the app.

TV Antenna Helper is not a good guide to what channels should or should not be received but it can be helpful if you want to locate the TV towers. I don't know why the channel information is so inaccurate as it is supposed to be coming from the FCC database (or maybe I do know why it's so inaccurate!).

Thanks for the instructions..... I think I will see just how different the signal is by adding the wingman... At that point I may decide to start adding boxes and the Sensor pro... I do go to the DTV.gov site and see which way I should be facing my antenna as of now...

Might be an easier way to do that if you have a SMART PHONE.

on my 'droid I have an application. TV Antenna Helper FREE.

Note that last word.. It was in the Google Play Store.

Took me like 2 minutes to figure it out but it snags my QTH (location) from the GPS (you know what that TLA is) and then checks the government site to find the transmitter locations (NOT studio as some web pages do) and gives me vectors (Angle/range) and anticipated signal strength..

I can display as a list
On a map (Shows actual tower location, colored lines indicate signal band (Green is good) on a compass (Likewise on color, do not find that one useful) and I think one other option.

Very handy.. Oh, and a good compass helps too. AND there is an app for that as well.. Just search in the store for it.. (There are quite a few) they use the flux gate sensors in the phone.

One thing they forget, When you activate the app. Hold the phone flat and turn around slowly all the way around to "Sync" the thing.

Let us know what worked. I have a similar problem. Only my bedroom TV loses channels, the more times I scan. Start with 10, then 7, then 3, then none. Why continue to scan? Because it starts with 10 channels that come in, and they slowly all fade away.

Never picks up as many channels as the LR TV or even the storage area TV. Pulled everything I can get to. All tight.

I replaced my signal booster with a the new Winegard Sensar Pro, and along with the Wingman attachment to the Winegard crank-up antenna we get a whole bunch of channels. 37 in fact on last trip out, but we were close to town.

One of the parks I frequent:
Batwing, Nothing or 1 if I'm lucky
Batwing with wingman, like 2 stations
Batwing with wingman and Sensar pro.. Varies depending on things I have yet to figure out but on a good day.. I get 'me all including a couple from the other side of the river (It's a border town, the "River" (St. Clair River) divides USA and Canada)

Oh yes, I like that Sensar Pro.
