More symptoms please.

Suspect list
Atwood.. open the outside panel. there is a foam thing with T-Stat and ECO printed on it, there should be two RED wires hooked to the ECO, if not, re-connect.. NOTE Only selected models

Do you have 12 volt DC control voltage present at the control board?

Bad ECO, Bad T-STAT, Bad control board

NOTE IF Red wire not connected or ECO bad the FAULT indicator will come on even if you choose ELECTRIC.. Normally the FAULT indicator does not come on when on Electric.

Surburan's work differently so I can't help you with them.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

If you still have the Cedar Back rig then it's a Suburban Water Heater

Both Gas and electric not working is strange cause they have/use separate controls
that are independent of each other

Except for the Suburban 'DEL' model.
It uses DC To control BOTH (similar to Atwood style)
DC Voltage goes to BOTH electric and propane ON/OFF Switches (Inside RV)

After that both operate independently

SO only common component is the DC Feeder Fuse for DC to ON/OFF Switches

If an Atwood Water Heater...
Check the 'thermal fuse' (one shot fuse in clear tubing connected between circuit board and t-stat ---Brown Wire)
If it blows all DC from circuit board is tripped (190*F....blow back from combustion chamber ---dirty/obstructed)
OR DC Feeder Fuse is blown to ON/OFF Switches

Just guessing cause info is very lacking any detail
Is it time for your medication or mine?

I take it you are saying that your water heater will not operate on either gas or electric.

The first question is, does your water heater support electric heat. Not all do. Some are gas only.

For electric, are you plugged into shore power or is your generator running? If not, the electric water heater won't work. If so, check your circuit breakers and use a volt meter to check for power at the heater.

For gas, is the gas turned on? When you turn the switch on to the water heater for gas operation, can you hear the ignitor clicking? If the ignitor is not clicking, you've got a power or control board issue.

Check for blown fuse or tripped breaker. There must be power to the control circuit for either to operate.
